I hope this will help anyone still having problems getting their hat....after getting my joy fame to ludicrous, I waited all day trying to get my hat, but no hat. I was getting very pissed off at my moogle. So I decide to go back to my HOMETOWN and get it right when I enter my mog house. SO....I think you have to go to your MH in your home nation. With my mules....I only got the tree for their hometown, passed out only a few ex and 1200 gil presents, get their joy fame up, waited a couple of hours, logged them in and there were the hats! And both were in their home nations.

what do the ginger cookies do?

i posted some stuff about this yesterday and seems my post was deleted...
i obtained the hat and 3 trees within 3 hours real life time, put them in storage (very pretty) and went to sleep. morning time came andmog found a "special present" under my tree. i use it and poof its dream hat +1 stats:

so it seems that after 30 secs its useless, cause it only has one cookie useable. is there different versions / stats?

It seems to me that Joy is timer based... yesturday my joy was ludicously high, haven't tported yet (did get my +1 hat) and i'm now down to "fair" so maybe it's timer based?

If the moogle doesn't have a nice shiny present for me tomorrow morning, I'm going to start the day off with some Moogle bacon then strut my stuff in my new moogle skin hat.

if i dont have a dream hat+1 when i wake up tomorrow, moogle dies.

I have all my trees, and both hats... i suggest - give kids in other cities presents as well... i did that as i was getting all my trees! and it took me no time to get my Dream Hat +1 ^^

OK, I have HEARD about a TAPESTRY QUEST! Anyone know anything about it??? I'm at my wits end tring to find something about it! I talked to EVERY NPC in windy (while opening alot of quests too lol) and i cant get anything about it.. is it just a rumor, or am i doing something wrong? Dream hat +1 obtained without even trying.

In Bastok, my home nation:

I got the tree, put it in layout.
I got the dream hat.
I traded 2 ex presents and 12 of the 1200 gil presents to various children in bastok mines.
I logged off for the night, and received the special present from my moogle when I logged back in approx. 18 hours later.

I never did check my joy level before logging out.

EDIT: It dispensed 7 ginger cookies at once when I used it. The message said "Rigsta obtains a ginger cookie" but there were 7 in my bazaar.

Here's the info that I've collected on the Starlight Festival... I pulled an all-nighter, so I'm pretty sure I got most of it.

There are four quests to this event:
-A quest to get a "Dream Hat"
-A quest to get a "Bastokan holiday tree"
-A quest to get a "San'dOrian holiday tree"
-A quest to get a "Windurstian holiday tree"

**~Dream Hat Quest~**
-This one is more complicated and has by far worn me out from typing it to countless clueless players... This quest is the same for all three cities, but different in respect of NPC names and such. First, you must trigger the quest by talking to a Moogle stationed in each of the three cities. One located by the fountain in Bastok Markets. One located east of the AH in Southern San'dOria. And the last located by the east gate in Windurst Woods. After this, seek out the "Person in the red hat" you've no doubt been hearing about. The bastok one is located in Bastok Mines near the Chocobo Stables. The Sandy one is in Northern Sandoria next to "Ramperre's Gate" in the courtyard. And the Windurstian "Red Hat" is in Windurst Waters, next to the northern gate that leads into West Sarutabaruta. Talk to them to most likely get a "present to the kiddies". You cannot do much of anythnig with this until you obtain a Dream Hat, so just keep it in your inventory for now. Next is the more complicated part that everyone seems to be confused on; There are several children throughout all three cities, these NPC's are not new, they've been in the game since long before the Celebration. Three of these children will give you a Letter. There are three different types of letters as well; a joyous letter, a gracious letter, and a thankful letter. The NPC's that give you these letters are random, and are different for every person, so someone can't tell you which one will give you what letter, or if the NPC will give you a letter at all. Just seek out child NPC's and talk to them, i trust before long you'll at least get one letter. Also, if you start the quest in Bastok, don't go looking for child NPC's in Windurst, as it doesn't work that way. *Important* Make sure you remember which NPC's give you what letters! Write this down or something. After you have collected all three letters, trade them to the NPC with the Red Hat all at the same time. You will them be interrogated by the NPC on which child gave you what letter. If you manage to answer correctly, you will recieve a "Dream Hat". If you ***** up, don't worry, just collect the letters back from the NPC's you got them from again. Once you obtain a Dream Hat, the child NPC's will accept the presents you trade them. =)

-I still haven't figured out details on trading presents to NPC's... I know it raises your "Joy" level, which works along the lines of fame. Your "Joy" level is read off by the moogle, I currently have "brought caravans of ludicrous amounts of joy to the children of Vana'diel". I haven't recieved any reward for this yet, I'll update when I figure out more. Feel free to reply with more info on this.
-A "Dream Hat +1" Supposedly exists, and it's possible you get it it from trading presents to the children. I have yet to see a "Dream Hat +1" on someone, so I am unsure of it's actual exsistance, or it's stats.
-Once you recieve the "Dream Hat" and trade the few EX presents you get to the children, the Moogle will teleport you to any of the other two nations FOR FREE. This is an awesome feature, as it usually takes me about 10minutes to get from town to town, and a good 1200gil out of my pocket if I chocobo to town.

**~The Holiday Trees~**
-The holiday tree quests are similar for all three cities. It details you finding the tree craftsman, accepting the quest, and having a set time limit to race to one of the Mog Houses in a certain district, getting an EX item from a "Market Moogle" outside the MH, and dashing back to the craftsman. The locations of the craftsmen are as follows: The Bastokan Galka craftsman is located in Port Bastok, Near the east gate to North Gustaberg, by the fountain. The Sandy craftsman is an Elvann located in Port Sandoria near the Air Travel Agency. And the Windurstian Craftswoman is a Mithra in the Port Windurst district just inside the west gate titled "Shiva's Gate". It's a simple quest that may need to be performed twice in a row before you get the Nation's tree. These quests ARE repeatable once every Vana'diel day.

-All three trees have the potency for Moghancement: Gardening if it is the only item in your Mog House. They are all the size of 3x3blocks. On Asura they've been going for 10-20k in Bazaar and Auction House, but I bet that'll change by the time the event's over.

***Other Notes
-Another rumor I've heard is of a Present-Dispensing belt, much like a Water or Ether Tank. I have yet to see one, and I do not know if it exsists.

-After following the advice of several of you, I recieved the Dream Hat+1:

After recieving the Holiday Tree, Put it into your Mog House. Get your holiday "Joy" to "Caravans of ludicrous amounts of Joy", and Wait one or two Vana'diel days. Talk to your moogle, it will give you a "Special Present". Go outside of your MH and use the present. (I went and showed off and used it in the crowd around the Red-hat NPC.) You obtain a "Dream Hat+1" from the present!

-After recieving the "Special Present" my "Joy" rating went all the way back to 0. This is why I know getting the "Special present" requires "Caravans of ludicrous amouts of joy".
-This gives you an unlimited amount of cookies, it never hits 0/1 no matter how many times you use it. Compared to what others claim, I've found from my personal experience it gives ONE cookie per 24 hours.

**More Notes
-The warps depend on how much joy you currently have, you use a sort of "Joy Points" every time you warp. You have to trade more presents to the children to keep joy points up high enough to warp.
-The Red-hat NPC gives you a free EX present every vana'diel day. This present gives you enough "Joy" for one Moogle Teleport.

OK, I have done everything needed for the +1 hat. Got my fame to where he said "caravan....yadda yadda yadda" and i have my tree and I waited 5 games days with no present still. Is there something I missed? If so let me know plz.

I can't seem to be able to get quest for Bastok tree. I have both other trees and the hat, but no quest. I'm guessing I need more joy fame. Does anybody know?
