New Year Rivalry: Moogles vs. Goblins?!

The Starlight Celebration was a resounding success. Thanks to your help, the cities of Vana'diel are overflowing with cheer, and smiles have returned to the children's faces. The moogles, however, seem unusually glum in contrast to the joyful atmosphere. "There weren't supposed to be so many of them searching for the cards, kupo..." "Well, we can play that game, too, kupo..." The chocobo-riding Goblins frantically searching for something outside the city walls appear to be the cause of the moogles' mood. Try talking to a gloomy moogle and see what you can do to help! How to Participate: The moogles have cleverly hidden seven types of Tenshodo trading cards all over Vana'diel and challenged the Goblins to find them. Try checking the areas of "Overturned Soil" and collect the cards before the Goblins do! Checking the "Overturned Soil" as a party will increase the number of cards found at one time. Gather as many friends as possible, and help each other collect all seven types! Once you have a full set of cards, trade them all to the moogles to receive your reward! Event Areas: West Ronfaure South Gustaberg East Sarutabaruta La Theine Plateau Konschtat Highlands Tahrongi Canyon Jugner Forest Pashhow Marshlands Meriphataud Mountains Batallia Downs Rolanberry Fields Sauromugue Champaign This event will run from December 26, 19:00 (PST) to January 9, 19:00 (PST).

Also, the surrounding areas for the 3 main cities tend to have a specific rare card as well. As Eckhart mentioned, S.Gustaberg's rare is Daikoku, I've heard Sarutabaruta's is Jurojin, I'm not sure what Ronfaure's is, maybe *******************

I found all those, and the ebisu card in large quantities in Sauromugue Champaign.

The names of these Tenshodo cards are also the names of the seven lucky gods.

Working with a party of 3 we found 3 sets of 6 cards for the Bamboo and the Costume Belt in just about 2 hours, all in West Ronfare...but we never saw/heard of a card called "Ebisu"

Anyone know where some low-level (under 20) people might be able to find them? :-)

Thanks very much!

Unfortunately neither of those zones are ones I know/have been to/know how to get to...pretty much the straight line from Ghelsba to Konschtat is my area of expertise heh...

No you cannot use the belts outside of town. I really wanted to terrorize people too...

Ranger's Widescan will NOT pick up Overturned Soil, however they will pick up the riders, they will appear as green dots.

Alot of the time you'll find multiple soils right in a row (I once found 5 soils next to eachother), so after you hit a soil, make sure to spin around pressing tab to find any others nearby.

As said before, different areas will drop different cards, I've seen a trend that the higher level zones tend to drop many Ebisus and not many low cards (Bishamon, Benten). Whereas the lower level areas it's the opposite.

Also, the surrounding areas for the 3 main cities tend to have a specific rare card as well. As Eckhart mentioned, S.Gustaberg's rare is Daikoku, I've heard Sarutabaruta's is Jurojin, I'm not sure what Ronfaure's is, maybe ***********

Do rangers take the day again with Wide Scan? That is, do the "Overturned Soils" show up on Wide Scan?
Can you?

You should do this in smaller zones, as you don't less ground to cover.

Also, certain cards seem to drop more in some zones than others.

I first did this in East Saruta, as I wanted the Mandragora belt... Daikoku cards dropped up the wazoo there, whereas Jurojin was rare...

Fast forward to doing it in South Gustaberg... so many Jurojin... but only ONE Daikoku.

So yeah. Just my two cents.

Ebisu is very hard to get in the lower zones (in terms of mob lvls). In Sauromugue campaign we get like 2-3 Ebisus per dig of 6 cards. Conversely in the higher zones, it's hard to get the lower lvl cards like **** and Bisahmon and Benten, so head back to places like tahrongi/saruta and their equivalents for those.

Best done with a PT of 6, for fastest card collection rate.

So the smilebringer's gone, the moogle has a Chocobo, and there are Goblin Riders outside digging in random spots. What do you do now?

To get cards: Go outside and find Overturned Soil, the name is green. You need to just tab around to find it, it doesn't 'look' like anything. There will be goblins on chocobos looking for it, so get there before them. Simply walk up to them and hit enter, you will either get cards (good) or a Wayward Worm (bad). The worm will cast Bind or Bindga at some ridiculously high level, the only way to not be bound is Erase (or maybe Utsusemi, but why would you burn it on this?). It immediately runs away after binding you. For those who might want to try and kill it, I used Eagle Eye Shot on it for 60 damage, and it's life did not move.

Moogle = Event Moogle, the one by the fountain (Bastok), the southern AH (San d'Oria), and the entrance from East Sarutabaruta (Windurst).

First you must trade the moogle the 3 cards that he asks for, I forgot the full names, but they're the 2 that start with a B, and the one with a D. He tells you the names. For this, you will get a Kodomatsu; a mog house decoration. This is repeatable, and the item is not Rare nor Ex.

Then you can turn in any set you want, the easy one yields a belt. To do this, you trade the moogle the Hotei, Jurojin, and ********** cards. The moogle will give you a belt that puts a costume on you. The belt has infinite uses, with a 24 hour recharge timer. Each city gives you a different belt; Bastok has the Worm Belt, San d'Oria has the Bunny Belt, and Windurst has the Mandragora Belt. I'm not sure how long the costume lasts but I assume it's until you take it off.

The last item I know of is the Chocobo Stable warp items. There's 3 different ones, Windy's is a scarf, Sandy's is a collar, and Bastok's is a medal. These have 10 charges on them, and warp you directly to the chocobo stable of the appropriate city. To get the different items, trade the Moogle all 7 cards, which are the 6 already listed, and a rare one called Ebisu. I've hunted for several hours and did not see an Ebisu drop.

Here's a tip; if you see other people hunting for cards, offer to party up with them. Each Overturned Soil you tag gives the treasure pool one card per party member. It makes things go alot faster since you're getting multiple cards with each Soil.

Good luck, and happy hunting!

Excellent info. A quick adendum on that. Each zone has easier to find items then others. (Either that or I got REALLY lucky). So, if you find that one card is impossible to get, try going to a neighboring zone. Typically I found that I needed 2 zones to get all 7 items. It took me a total of 1/2 hour. Also, I would recommend going to any of the outside areas if you can... Basically I stay in Pashow and the highlands (I also went to Tahrongi and the mountains). Anyways, happy digging, and don't be too vicious...

You can get one of each item... however, to get the choco teleport item you do need to get 13 cards. 3 for the first quest, 3 for the second, then 7 for the last. Then repeat for each town you want to teleport to... Fun huh?
