Q-3PO had a bit to say on the Official SWG Dev Forums about the newest FAQ Addition:This is one of our shortest FAQs, but one that we do get asked a lot.

I think people will prefer Full Screen mode, but the option is there. As stated in a previous FAQ, you can also ALT TAB.
We are starting to work with marketing on the official list of our final feature set for initial release (essentially what shows up on the box cover). We probably won’t be posting it until the end of the month or early next month. When that happens we’ll likely bring the full FAQ up to speed. I’ll keep you informed of that.

Basically, SWG is following the current trend of playing in a window. While some people won't ever use it, others will use it frequently for a number of reasons... hopefully all good and legal.
