Anyone has an idea when the voting is supposed to start and how it is going to be conducted?
Painting allowed?
# Oct 29 2008 at 11:24 PM Rating: Default
It sucks we can't paint instead of carving(or a combo of both painting & carving :P)....or can we?

Just wondering cause I keep messing up on the carving of pumpkins ^ ^;
few rule questions
# Oct 24 2008 at 11:24 PM Rating: Decent
i didn't see this in the rules so i wanted to ask,

1. for the carving, should we shy away from using artwork or such like screenshots or any offical style art to design the carving for our pumpkin.
i mean should we use the art for creative purposes but make sure there is a diffrence between what we carve and any known ffxi info so as to not cause any copyright issues?

2. for lighting, is there a specifics we should stick to or just as long as the pumpkin is visible is it ok.

3. can the pumpkin be sitting on something so as to make it level since some pumpkins(moreso alot where i'm at ) are lopsided?

4. does a person need to have an allakhazam account to enter the contest, since my sis wants to enter to?

5. can there be colors used to light the pumpkin(besides a traditional candle) or highlight or does this need to be more of a straight forward pumpkin carving. (like christmas lights and such.)
voting starts?...
# Oct 22 2008 at 8:18 PM Rating: Default
when and where will the pumpkin pictures be displayed for viewing? i'm really anxious to see what people ar entering this year
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 20 2008 at 7:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Nice idea but only reason I saw it was because of FFXIAH community banner.... havn't checked this site in years due to it's....... an intelligent word escapes me at the moment so I'll be blunt, this site sucks.

Are you carving a pumpkin also, pikko?

First, I'd like to point out how it looks like a majority of the winning pumpkins last year look like they have a large summoner influence! <3 I'm a summoner on my Redpage. Only job I truly enjoy. <3

And second...

Who votes in the poll? You? Us? That'd be awesome. I think I'd be a good pumpkin judge. (There might be a large summoner winnings if I am. sorry). Does anyone else also have the want to judge? A poll on the main page would be kickin. I'm not html savvy so I wouldn't know if it's possible or not, but it's an idea! What do you think?

I was on a submarine last halloween and had no idea this event was taking place. Soo.. I have some questions. I'll try and give you something to do for a little bit and distract you from your video gaming.

1... How many people sent in pictures of pumpkins for last year's event?
2... Did many people used pictures that were sent in the year before? (I don't know if this happened before that or it was the first pumpkin carving contest)
3... Did people use pictures they found online and send it to you?
4... What if it's possible to use photoshop to make a picture of a pumpkin carving? Maybe have the person standing next to the pumpkin is a good way to avoid that if it is possible.
5... Is Pikko carving pumpkins for halloween this year? :)

Here's another thing...

Tidal Talisman? That's cool beans! Everyone should try for this. Halloween always gets me excited. I can't help it! I spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out the halloween event last night and ended up getting 14 of the 16 rare/ex items. (Not including the necklaces that teleport you to different chicken stables and the themed foods from killing Pyracmon)

That answered some of my questions, LMAO. To avoid more confusion, if we are voting on this, who's to stop from voting multiple times? Couldn't I just make a new email on Yahoo.com and use that to make a new Alla account? If I put a pumpkin on there... That's exactly what I would do to win a brand new computer............ Wouldn't you?

1. We got about 10 pumpkins in last year I think.
2. The rules state that you must have carved the pumpkin this year.
3. Rules state that you may be asked to provide additional photographs to prove it was carved by you.
4. I guess it's possible, but I don't really know what I can do about that.
5. Yes, I will, but I will not be entering.

This may be silly, but I'm curious. In the competition rules -

"4. Eligibility. The contest for the Grand Prize is open to legal residents of all 50 states plus the District of Columbia of the United States of America who are over 18 years of age. Prizes for First, Second, and Third places are open to all participants around the world"......"Prizes will only be shipped to addresses within the U.S. and if your name is drawn, you must provide a name and address within the U.S. for shipping or be disqualified."

So, while the competition is open to everyone, and everyone is eligible for the latter three prizes, you cannot win one of those unless you have a US address?

Please correct me if I'm reading this wrong, I was just disappointed and thought it should be pointed out.

I read it as:

Grand prize is not a virtual good and therefore because of shipping, it can only be sent to US addresses.
In-game item and premium membership, I would still imagine can be open to anyone because it does not require real money to get from point A to point B.

I could be mistaken, however, still very disappointed in this. Not really fair to other players around the world, like usual. I wouldn't even mind paying shipping if I had to.

Probably going to be an Alienware PC.

I realize that it's unfair, but as this is a prize SE is giving out, it is up to them. I'm guessing there are tax reasons that prevent it from being a WW contest.

If in the post they would say something like "and special in-game items' I would take notice. I work doubles of late to try to get cought up in my bills so when you work 16-18 hours a day you don't get much time to read the post. I work in retail, if you don't do things to catch the costumers eye they don't pay much mind to what they see. Oh and SE can send a message to your pol acount.not just in-game post. Do you like logging in and logging right back out to see what they're talking about espcially someone like me who's been trying to balence work and game time and is lucky to have any free time at all.
Ok I'll put it to you this way.

I think I can agree w/ u on time & play balance thing... I myself might end up taking a another job(or just start selling my crafts I keep making)in order to catch up on things. Something I'd like to add is that unless it has something do w/ jobs in the game, the history of the game, or contests that peak my interests, I don't pay much attention to it either.

W8 a sec, I think u may have already said a couple of things that I just mentioned ^ ^; my bad, lol.

P.S.

Pikko,
I'll have that thing up asap after getting everything finalized & certain "problems" FINALLY taken care of... better late than never ^ ^

More to the point, I think, what planet do you live on where SE didn't post announcements on thier main FFXI webpage as well as on the server login message?
It's not their fault if you didn't pay attention to their announcments. There are plenty of things that bug me about the way they go about things, but unless you wanted them to call you personally about it, I don't really know what they could have done.

This guy said the same thing about the piano collections CD. None of his posts ever make sense.

Maybe I can help you out then. Feel free to copy-paste.

*Ahem*

To quote a Roman General on the eve of battle under Caesar's Command: "Hail Caesar, for those about to die, we salute you."

I don't know, maybe what got to me more was the fact that your sig doesn't even spell his name right. That's probably the first thing a person should check when doing a quote.
