Accounts Banned

We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Based on the results of our investigation, around 7060 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while around 1520 accounts were temporarily suspended.
Additionally, we have increased the number of mass bannings against certain PlayOnline violations in order to prevent illegal acts.

Details of the violations are as follows:

- Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
Week of September 21, Approx. 130 cases
Week of September 28, Approx. 230 cases
Week of October 5, Approx. 250 cases
Week of October 12, Approx. 370 cases
Week of October 19, Approx. 160 cases

- Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
October 22, Approx. 40 cases

- Using cheats to automatically repeat a particular action.
Week of September 21, Approx. 40 cases
Week of September 28, Approx. 890 cases
Week of October 5, Approx. 840 cases
Week of October 12, Approx. 1080 cases
Week of October 19, Approx. 570 cases

- Gil and item exchange for real world money.
Week of September 21, Approx. 80 cases
Week of October 5, Approx. 10 cases
Week of October 12, Approx. 300 cases
Week of October 19, Approx. 1540 cases

- Instances of areas or monster monopolization.
October 2, Approx. 190 cases
October 9, Approx. 110 cases

- Involved in compromised accounts
Week of September 21, Approx. 270 cases
Week of September 28, Approx. 450 cases
Week of October 5, Approx. 360 cases
Week of October 12, Approx. 460 cases
Week of October 19, Approx. 210 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 1.2 billion gil from circulation.

We would like to remind players that as well as adversely affecting game balance, the use of third-party tools or cheats can also have consequences that are not immediately obvious, such as introducing damaging viruses, and comprising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI, and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

I'm gonna jump in and say I really appreciate SE doing they're best to help keep the game fun, and not a spawning ground for profiteers.

I'm still kinda discouraged though when other players tell me "You know what the acronym for the special task force unit is right?"

(its STFU by the way)

If you really think about it, that is enough players banned to populate 2 servers almost. I think RMT continue to do their thing and recreate accounts and what not now just to annoy us. I can't see them making a good profit on how well S/E and STF does in investigating and banning accounts.

I could see working for RMT a boring job:

RMT: "w00t!, lvl 75 again. I can start farming with my work buddies and get some items to sell to control of the AH again"
STF: "You have been banned, /wave!!"
RMT: "Damnit, got to start all over again"

Rinse and repeat.
Two messages from hugecheap, can they prevent a third?

I've now gotten two messages from hugecheap.com, and I know that everyone else on my server has too, and I'm made to wonder, is there anything they can do to prevent message spamming, so we don't have to see a third?

As a side note, what are these RMT's thinking? Do they really imagine that this will work? If they hack well enough to spam a message to all players, is there any reason to believe our accounts won't be hacked after we visit their site?

I wish SE could do a weekly server lottery to help inject that gil back into circulation. It would also add another element of fun to the game, the chance to win a large amount of gil each week would be great.

Maybe add in a few prizes from lesser prizes from endgame events like Sky & Dyna to round off a fun weekly event.

As much as this can be a good thing to a certain extent. One is brought to wonder whether the termination of 7000 accounts will not only affect the balance of the game, but also affect the population levels of the game in general. On one hand, we must thank SE for representing us and our concerns in the matters of RMT players; however, on the other hand, we would hope this wouldn't adversely affect amount of players remaining loyal to the realm of Vana'Diel.

If they're cheating or engaging in RMT good riddence.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:
