INTERVIEW #5 The Job of Localization

Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) is not just published in Japanese, but English, German, and French as well. When version updates or expansion discs are released, all four versions are released at the same time. The Localization Team is responsible for translating and localizing the game’s contents from Japanese into their respective languages. In this part of the interview, we talk about how they translate the unique ways different characters talk and about the challenges that arise from grammar differences in each language.
