Grab Bag #16 Answers Numerous Questions

Grab Bag Number 16 has been posted on the War Herald and contains answers to numerous questions posed by the community on the official forums. Numerous topics are covered, from the Tome of Knowledge to potions to scenarios. For example, here's an answer explaining that RvR itemization is a current focus for the team:

Q. Do you have any plans to put in a token system, or adjust instance loot so things stop dropping for careers that aren't present?

A. Our item-related focus right now is RvR itemization and improving that aspect of the game. There will be future improvements to PvE, but right now RvR and Quartermasters are our primary concern.

Q. Could you please explain the impact of the new containers on the 'power' of the talisman? I would have thought they would have made +20 talismans much easier, but the impact seems to be only marginal.

A. The new Talisman Making containers do not affect the “power” of the talisman; rather, they modify the chance to “get something awesome.” These containers make it easier to get the exceptional result needed to reach a +20 stat talisman (as it is the upper bound of the highest rarity).

Q. What potions can stack with each other and not cancel another out? We need to know what potions work with each other and which ones will cancel the effect of the other.

A. Potions are separated into families, and potions of the same family won’t stack with each other. For example, all buff potions are part of the buff family and will not stack; however, you can have a heal-over-time potion and a Strength-buff potion up at the same time because they belong to different families of effects.

Q. How do the dev teams decide when to "FIX" something? I mean, what is the process that Mythic follows when they make the decision to address problems, bugs, concerns, etc. from the player base?

A. In the case of bugs or problems, they go through QA first after being passed along via in-game reports, from the Community Team, or from the forums. From there, QA works to reproduce the issue, assesses the severity and potential impact of it, and sends it to the appropriate development team. The dev team creates a fix, QA tests it, and once it passes testing, it is then hotfixed immediately or worked into a future patch, depending on the priority level. General concerns or non-bug-related issues are gathered by the Community Team and Customer Service, and are also passed along to the appropriate development team for assessment and consideration/resolution.

Q. Is there any possibility of getting new models on Trophies or getting higher res textures on them?

A. At this time, we do not plan to give existing Trophies higher resolution textures (due to performance issues), nor are we planning to replace any existing Trophies with new models. That being said, we do plan to continue to add more new Trophies (with new textures and models) to the game with upcoming live events and updates.

Q. How are Scenario populations deemed "imbalanced?”  It's clear when it's 2 vs. 10, but I've been in some 9 vs. 12 (and maybe even 8 vs. 12) Temple of Isha Scenarios, which I think is a big enough gap to be considered imbalanced, but apparently the game doesn't (though I've just been looking at the Scenario summary page, which I suppose could list people that have left).

A. In Scenarios, anything population ratio of 2:3 and below is considered imbalanced and will result in the Scenario shutting down prematurely. So, for example, 9 versus 12 is still considered balanced, but 8 versus 12 is not.

Q. Could you please explain the naming color system in warbands?  At times, names in my group are yellow with the guild and title in green, all green at other times and sometimes yellow/white.  What does it all mean?

A. With 1.3, we will be making improvements to the name coloring system, so there will be some changes coming that will make the system more clear. Below is a breakdown of how it will work.

  • Green – Players in your party
  • Light Olive – Players in your warband
  • Dark Green – RvR players in your party
  • Dark Olive – RvR players in your warband
  • Yellow – RvR flagged players not in your party or warband
  • Blue – Players in your guild (this will only show in the guild and title section of the overhead name)
  • Aqua Blue – Players in your alliance (this will only show in the guild and title section of the overhead name)

Q. What does having a five-star capital city really mean? What opens up when a capital city is at five stars?

A. New quests and areas open up, and special NPCs, such as Felix and Gotrek in Altdorf, appear. The special NPCs provide an additional encounter for capital city invaders. So, it’s always best to attack a city when it’s at Rank 5! Also, a rare PQ NPC will appear in each capital city, when it is at Rank 5 and in a peace state, that the city’s inhabitants can participate in.

Q. Is there anything in the works for the special career-debut Live Event items (Live Events for Slayer/Choppa and KotBS/BG, etc.) to be put in the game so new characters can get those items also? Somewhat like the account unlocks for Collector’s Edition items?

A. We would like to be able to do this in the future. Currently, we are investigating ways we could offer previous Live Event rewards to characters on an account that has been flagged as finishing the event.

Q. In the most recent State of the Game, an RvR Tome section was mentioned. Can you give more clarification on that?

A. The new RvR Tome of Knowledge section will focus on new RvR unlocks and achievements, and will add new functionality to the Tome in a way players have not seen before. One exciting new features you can look forward to seeing in the RvR Tome section is an all-new nemesis system. Keep an eye out for more info about the RvR Tome section in the coming months!

Q. There are a lot of Tome unlocks that are supposed to grant titles, but these titles are marked "???" as if they were never input. Does Mythic plan on
implementing these Titles at a later date?

A. Yes, we are currently working to implement all of the Titles currently listed as “???” in the Tome of Knowledge. Most, if not all of these, will be in with Patch 1.3.

Q. Does Tome Jewelry's set procs only proc in PvE?

A. Currently, Tome Jewelry set effects work on players as well as monsters.

Q. The character info screen states that Strength, Intelligence, and Ballistic Skill reduce Parry, Disrupt, and Dodge, respectively, and that they all reduce Block. By what amount do they affect those defenses?

A. We don't typically give out specific numbers or formulas for stats and abilities, but we are looking to add in specific % amounts for the bonus into the tooltips in a future patch.
