Job Updates and Additions Part 1

FROM PLAYONLINE.COM: A host of job adjustments and additions are in the pipes for the upcoming version update, including formidable new abilities for ninjas. Other jobs, too, are scheduled to benefit from myriad adjustments to magic and abilities. In this, the first part in the job adjustment series of articles, we cast the spotlight on ninjas, Vana'diel's agents of stealth and deception.

Discuss this in the forums!

Accomplished in both offense and defense, the art of ninjutsu has over the years proven to be a favorite among adventurers across the land. Now, with the addition of the following two new abilities, ninjas can further enhance either their efficiency in offense or aptitude in defense as befits the situation.

Yonin

Yonin

(Lv.40 Ability Delay: 5 min. Duration: 5 min.)
Strengthens one's ability to fend off blows from the enemy.
While in effect, Yonin increases enmity and enhances the effect of "ninja tool expertise" in exchange for reduced accuracy. Further bonuses are granted to evasion and critical hit rate when engaging your target from the front.
The potency of the above effects gradually decreases over time.

Innin

Innin

(Lv.40 Ability Delay: 5 min. Duration: 5 min.)
Strengthens one's ability to deal damage to the enemy.
While in effect, Innin lowers enmity in exchange for reduced evasion. Further bonuses are granted to accuracy, critical hit rate, and ninjutsu damage when striking your target from behind.
As with Yonin, the potency of the above effects gradually decreases over time.

*Notes

-The effects of both Yonin and Innin are mutually exclusive. Activating one while the other is in effect will result in the nullification of the one originally in effect.

-Yonin and Innin have a shared ability delay. For example, a ninja who uses Yonin must wait for five minutes to elapse before either ability becomes usable again.

In implementing these new abilities, the development team has taken into consideration character positioning during party play and many other factors. To ensure a smooth gaming experience for all, testing and adjustments will be carried out to the fullest extent that time permits.

Mijin Gakure

Up until now, ninjas who were revived after using the job ability "Mijin Gakure" would find themselves alive and standing, but in a weakened state. The July version update will see self-sacrificing ninjas restored to battle-ready fitness with a generous 50% of HP in the tank.

In light of the above changes, the latent effect granted by the ninja mythic weapon will also be adjusted. In place of the effect whereby users of Mijin Gakure are spared being revived in a weakened state, a special new effect will be introduced that will activate after using Mijin Gakure.

Other magic and job abilities scheduled to be on the receiving end of improvements will be introduced in the very near future, so stay tuned!

I was hoping for something along the lines of putting Ninja back where they traditionally were in other FF games - expert throwers. Good throwing items are so expensive and inaccessible that it's not feasible.
awesome new updates!

Hmm.... I'm waiting for something more like...

In order to spice the game up both temporary and permanent bans will be added to various job abilities and spells!

- Now when Ninja's use the move Mijin Gakure they will be temporarily banned from the game. A quick call into the help desk may or may not result in this ban being permanent! To counter this "challenging occurrence" As an added effect everyone in your party is warped home so they don't die when their tank is banned.

- Summoner's astral flow now has a chance of backfiring and hitting party members. Each affected party member will be whisked off to Mordion Goal for a 3 day temp ban. We felt this was necessary to make smn burn parties more exciting!

- Instant death, perm-ban, temp-ban and random warp will be added to the possible outcomes of the Corsairs 2hr move! We felt the corsairs 2hr move was too overpowered so this was added to tone it down a bit.

- Puppetmaster: When a puppet overheats now it has a chance of turning on its master! Once the master is dead the puppet will stand watch over the corpse to ensure that you cannot be raised and must HP. Puppetmaster was considered too powerful by the same people that created Absolute Virtue and this measure was intended to put them on a level playing field with everyone else. If anyone attempts to revive the dead puppetmaster the puppet will cast temp-ban on them. Perm ban if they try it more than once.

- Black mages will have the party option "Accept Invite" removed. Should they try and create a party the option "Invite Player" will be replaced with one that temp bans the black mage for 3 days to teach them a lesson. Black mages were not meant to party!

etc..... i'm done lol :)

This is too long a wait to reuse these abilities. The timer should be less so it can be more useful in a party setting. Think of Hasso for a sec. If you give it a short recast time like Hasso it would let a ninja have away to keep the hate going, which would be a good thing. A recast timer of say 3 mins would be a better way to go. Being that the effects of these new abilities diminish over time. This way if the party is going to break up after this fight you can have the choice of recasting Innin/yonin or not. Another thing they can do to help a ninja is give them a silencing ninjutsu. I for one know it's hard to solo a mage type mob without it. This would let a ninja have a way to farm for items to make gil. We all know that the tools can cost an arm and a leg to get depending on the server and anyway for a ninja to make gil is a plus in my book. (soloing ninja is a good way to train yourself to be a better one in the long run)

as you stated:

however it does say that the duration of this effect will be 5min. so even tho it does decrease with time, IE like provoke, i can imagine that the strength of it will last at least a couple min, and then start decreasing till the timer is up.
just a thought
zOMG!

D'oh!

Just because players use it Nin as a tank doesn't mean it was meant to be one. A Nin can make a decent DD if used as one. People are notorious for believing what they want to believe, even to the extent that they will make it true themselves and say "See, what I believe is true." I think people complained to SE, the designers of the game, because they wanted SE to recognize Nin as a tank. That's like getting mad at God for making you a man and insisting that he recognize you as a woman. Deep down inside, we laugh at transexuals. The designers of the game had plans for the Nin. Things in this world are as they are and aren't necessarily something else just because we want them to be or even believe they should be. I have used Nin as a Tank and as a DD. I prefer using it as a DD; especially with such subs as Thf, Dnc, and even Drk.
