Mounts Now Available on the Station Marketplace

SOE introduces mounts with stats for 2500SC

Today SOE announced that three new mounts will be available in the EQII Station Marketplace.  For 2500SC ($25) you can have your choice of three very good looking mounts.  Each mount comes in your choice of Fierce or Arcane. The Fierce version increases Slashing, Aggression, Ranged, Piercing and Crushing of caster by 5, while the Arcane version increases Focus, Ordination, Disruption, Subjugation and Ministration of caster by 5. Both versions of the mount have a 65% run speed.

These mounts are guarenteed to be available on the Marketplace for at least a month.  Click the picture above for large screenshots of each mount, and be sure to watch them in action in the video after the jump!

Yes, I own one. I can't say that I approve of SOE charging quite so much, but I have only just started in EQII, and there is just so much land to cover when they give meagre clues to what you are looking for. I really bought it for the speed of travel, but the increased fighting ability also saves time when an adversary that otherwise takes 25 seconds to bring down now takes 15 seconds. It has made the quite boring running across landscape and the at times tedious fighting tolerable enough for me to play the game, and a newbie like me doesn't know all the ways the old keeners make themselves faster and meaner.

And personally, I think it better that it looks different from the mounts you gain through other means. Some things you work for, some you can just buy! But it would have been nicer if they offered more through the marketplace. For instance I would have preferred to buy a ride for speed (say a nice horse), and a powerful weapon for fighting, rather than have them combined. Fighting from the ride just does not look cool!

This mount in no way hurts anyone else already playing, it really is just a geewiz item for those with some disposable income. Those of you whining are making it sound like you *have* to have one of these.
Let me explain something, no you don't have to have one of these.
Get over your sense of entitlement.
Also another thing to know about these mounts (just like the RAF mount), is that it is heirloom, but not attuned on use. So you can use it on any character on your account with access to the shared bank.

I would think this station cash mount selling would hurt thier profits in Legends of norrath card game, as most people trade over 150 bucks worth of boosters just to have mounts that look like this. Guess they dont always think about money when making decisions.

I was fine with microtransactions when SOE said they would just be fluff items...though noone with an IQ over 40 believed it (and it shows that we earned that IQ).

A Pay 2 Play game that also has a cash market, competing against the other P2P game with a cash market, and a larger player base is all this is.

Perhaps if SOE gave us a Station Cash rebate for each month we play. So you pay your $15 for this month, and your SC Wallet gets a bonus $2.50. Surely that $2.50 shouldn't break SOE's finances, and then it would give people a little less disdain for the marketplace, and they might even be more inclined to spend money.

Microtransactions

Yeah, Microtransaction will be one part of the future of online gaming.

But if i wanna play some game with microtansaction i choose a F2P game and pay for the content i need to play (Like Freerealms).

But if i pay a lot of money (i own a Station Access Pass) monthly (and that from the beginning of EQ1) i want to enjoy the game without of some extra costs.

I bought like plenty others the last expansion "Sentinels Fate" payed a lot of money for it (had as european player troubles to get it - and was really angry that i had no chance to buy the expensive collectors edition) and 2 month later Sony added a mount for 25$ (why the hell Sony is not so kind to the faithful customers and add a new signature quest line or epic mount quest line to own this mounts?

I will accept microtransactions in EQ if i have a monthly fee below 10$. But i personally would prefer to pay each month 5$ extra and Sony stops this whole bunch of microtransaction adventure (they could do some marketing like the hotels of the world with an all inclusive package for online gamers).

I take it the Graphic designers for the station market are FAR better then the ones on SOE's expansions...just an assumtion considering these mounts look like Cat mounts instead of some odd experiment gone bad as the collectors addition mount cats look...i mean come on SOE i love this game but this is a slap in the face to anyone that got the Collectors Addtion just for a "cool" mount that ended up getting a mount with an oversized head and the rear end the size of a hippo amd thin spindly legs.
Why not at least fix the other cat mount or give the option to trade it for one of these....oh no that wouldnt be profitable.

By the way what happened to Fluff items only that wouldnt affect in game stats and such...these new market place mounts have more then speed they modify the charcter for combat as well..hmm slipping it in on a nice lookin mount may be slick..but ya we noticed.

It was the same artist/animator team that made the Highland Stalker. In the thread over on the Official forums it's been said that they applied the Prowler animations to the Stalkers.
Seriously?

The day these rediculous mounts pop up on the market place there is a post about them. But the ability database still maxes out at lvl 70...what the crap is this site good for other than marketing for SOE? Why the hell would anyone want a damn 65% mount anyway? I can run faster on any character with a few AA and a Bogstrutter stick. besides mounts move crappy look like they have downs syndrome and technically only jump about half as far and high as the graphics show... mounts are just a money pit.
Did you had to do the same Sony?

Well, what can you expect? if Blizzard can do it. Why can't they lol!

That's very original Sony.

Free, free, free!!! Gimme, gimme, gimme!!! The new SOE customer mantra?
Why would you wish someone fired over something like this?
If $15.00 a month is too much for you, I suggest you move to something F2P, like Runes of Magic, perhaps, and quit your *********
I try, I really try, not to even pay attention to useless threads, like this one, in which people whine on and on and on about a game they apparently dislike yet continue to play. It's funny that 3 out of 4 of the people who posted before me have contributed little, if anything, prior to this thread.

Microtransactions are here to stay, people. Get used to it. Don't like em, don't make em. Don't like the fact that other people do? Just too damn bad.

I don't know that I'll purchase one of these mounts, as $25 for one is a little steep for me, but if I stick to Ramen noodles for a few days....:/
