Jim Brown Discusses Future of Stargate Games
SaveStargate.org, a website devoted to helping save the Stargate Worlds MMO and the Stargate Resistance third-person shooter, has published the second part of its interview with Jim Brown, an authority on both games. Brown, along with his two partners, conceived the idea for Stargate Worlds and won the license for the project from MGM. The licenses for both games have since been pulled, but Brown said that Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is working with MGM to hopefully get them renewed.
So how close did Stargate Worlds come to fruition? According to Brown, "it's likely that SGW was never closer than 1 year from release, and probably longer." He goes on to say that the game was "never really 'just about to come out.' "
Brown also emphasizes that Stargate fans should let MGM know that they want Stargate games. "CME is in good hands and doing their best, now, to develop the best plan forward for their games," he said. "I'm hopeful that they'll work it out and renegotiate successfully with MGM. Your support can only help that effort. It can also renew their efforts to get more games done for Stargate."
