A Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: Vayne!

With Vayne, the Night Hunter, players are in for some acrobatic demon hunting that'll be sure to turn some heads.

It's been a while now since I last wrote a "Buyer's Guide to League of Legends," but when I heard that Riot Games would be introducing a new leather-clad, crossbow-wielding demon huntress, well, you can sure that I'd be there to check her out. Of course, like any new champion, there have been a lot of posts on the forums with players demanding nerfs and buffs, but if you just want to know if Vayne, the Night Hunter is worth your hard-earned Riot Points (or Influence Points), then read on!

For the most part, Vayne has been received by the community as a strong ranged DPS carry with some of the best in-combat mobility I've seen thus far. Most ranged DPS champions, like Tristana, Corki, Caitlynn or Miss Fortune, tend to have one escape move, in the form of a jump or a slow, but Vayne gets a more interesting mechanic in Tumble. With Tumble, Vayne rolls a short distance towards the player's cursor, and she also gains bonus attack damage on her next attack. Additionally, Vayne gets a passive movement speed bonus from her passive, Night Hunter, which gives her extra movement speed when she moves toward an enemy champion in her vision.

In terms of her other abilities, however, Vayne is a fairly generic ranged DPS champion, although this doesn't mean that she's sub-par in any way. For example, in League of Legends' tank heavy meta-game, champions who can deal damage based on a percentage of their opponents' maximum health can really shred through an opposing team, and Vayne is lucky enough to get that in the form of her passive attack ability, Silver Bolts. With Silver Bolts, Vayne deals a percentage of an opponent's maximum health as bonus true damage on her third consecutive hit against that target.

For her last ability and her ultimate, Vayne has Condemn, which is a basic ability that knocks her opponent back and deals double damage if they collide with terrain, and Final Hour, which gives Vayne a lot of extra damage, in addition to quadrupling the movement speed bonus of Night Hunter and allowing her to stealth every time she uses Tumble.
