Nationwide "Yell" Chat Command to be Implemented

Tired of trying to recruit a large group of people for an event, but aren't able to cover all the zones in the city that you want to recruit from, resulting in constant zoning or forcing others to help cover those other areas? In the upcoming Final Fantasy XI version update, the new "Yell" chat command will make this problem a thing of the past.

Similar to the "Shout" command, which lets you communicate across a large portion of a single area, the new "Yell" command will allow players in one zone of a city to communicate their message across all other zones of the city. While Jeuno will be the only city to allow this new command for testing purposes, the nations of Bastok, San d'Oria, and Windurst can expect to see it should the tests prove favorable!

Discuss this on the Zam Forums!

From the official Final Fantasy XI Forums:

Howdy!

As mentioned previously, the development team has been hard at work creating a new mode of chat that will allow players to be heard across all the areas within your current nation! I bring with me today a sample of what they're currently testing and planning to implement in the upcoming version update! I give you…the “Yell” feature!

*For the initial settings the text color is the same as shout
*We will update these with EN images very soon! Apologies for the Japanese!

The yell feature will start with support in Jeuno so that we can monitor the effects it has on server lag. After examining the situation for a bit (and assuming no problems arise), we'll expand the yell feature to cover area-wide communications within San d'Oria, Bastok and Windurst.

Now you'll be able to yell for parties while keeping your chocobo fed, expanding your Gobbiebag, or just listing up your bone chips on the Auction House!

I always wanted to see a delay timer for a /shout command because of all the garbage spamming. Now we will have a /yell command to ruin logs across zones.

Great thats all we need to hear, shouts everywhere we go. PJ is bad enough. 90 percent of the shouts on my server are garbage especially since the server merge.

if they wanted to test this they could have done this in whitegate since it has become a ghost town. I know a lot of people would go there simply to try it out. It would bring somewhat of a crowd I would think

This should help with lag/congestion in Port Jeuno as over half the characters there are just standing waiting for /shouts for p/u parties (rest are bazar). Will now be able to stand in the much quieter Upper Jeuno and see those /yells.

I would personally like to see an area near the Abyssea npcs, call it a "Soapbox" area, where a player can shout and have that shout heard in the Soapbox area of every other city with Abyssea npcs.
