Rebuilding Event: Velious Spires and Dragon Ring

Help the Coldain and Erudites rebuild the spires and dragon ring!

UPDATE, July 25: Issues continue to cling to this event, the latest being that the Dragon Ring finale is not completing its quest for many people. If this affects you, DO NOT delete the quest from your journal and wait for a hotfix on July 27th that will offer an alternative way to complete it.

The Velious Transportation Event will see the activation of the Dragon Ring (druid ring) in Great Divide and the Wizard Spires in Eastern Wastes. Once they are complete players will be able to use them for a method of transporation.

The re-activation of this event will begin around 5pm PDT on Friday, July 22, 2011. The duration of the event will largely depend on how much each server contributes to their rebuilding process, but is expected to last anywhere from one to three weeks. Players can contribute by completing adventuring or errand quests!

This is a limited time event and once a transporation spot is fully completed on a server the quests will no longer be available. Take advantage of it while it lasts!

Check out our Velious Transportation Event guide for more information and a list of rewards. Continue after the jump for a list of changes included in the re-activation.

UPDATE, July 20: Amnerys has announced that the Velious transport network rebuilding events will be reactivated this Friday, July 22.

UPDATE, July 15:  Following an in-game announcement around 10:20am Pacific time on July 15, the rebuilding event has been suspended while they resolve some issues. Progress will be saved up through 50% completion rate.

The following changes will be in effect when the event is reactivated on July 22, 2011.

Dragon Ring Event

  • Bouont Crushingfist should now correctly update the quest “Two Heads are Better than One.”
  • The quests given when entering the Dragon Ring area should no longer be removed when you leave the area.

Wizard Spire Event

  • The Wargcaller should no longer get stuck in combat.
  • The quests given when entering the Wizard Spire area should no longer be removed when you leave the area.

Both Events

  • In response to feedback, the percentage of progress for the event on each server has been rolled back somewhat in order to allow players more time to participate in the event. Servers that were further ahead were rolled back more than servers with lower progress.
  • The event merchants are now selling glacial mounts that can be used by adventurers as well as tradeskillers of any level, at a reduced price.
  • Corrected an issue which was causing the events to happen more often than they were intended to.
  • Health for the named encounters has been adjusted.
  • Harvestable tokens have been slightly increased.

Event almost done on Everfrost :(

Less than 24 hours after the event went live, the wizzy spires on Everfrost are at 99%. Dragon Ring is expected to be completed some time on Sunday, Monday at the very, very latest - and that's not likely. :( Really sad that they didn't really slow this thing down enough to give people a chance to participate.
Still WAY too fast!

Up side - spire events are back up! Down side - they're still picking up around 3% progress per hour on Everfrost. That'll mean that the Dragon Ring (the SLOWER of the two events) should be up to 60% by 10:30 tomorrow morning and done tomorrow night or Sunday morning at the latest. Smiley: frown So much for it lasting 2 to 3 weeks.

Oh man, guess I know what I'll be doing all day tomorrow. Really was hoping that it had slowed down a lot!

Just checked the progress at the Dragon Ring on Everfrost, expecting it to be up to about 50% based on last night's progress. Happy to report it's only up to 27%, having only picked up 4% in the last 8 hours. Apparently, they DID manage to build some breaks into this thing!

The spires are at 73% though.. the dragon ring is going slower because the battles are longer apart then the spire ones. :)

Poorly Planned - Even More Poorly Executed
# Jul 17 2011 at 7:22 AM Rating: Decent
I had three major issues with this event, which I did submit in a /feedback post to the Devs, though I'm not sure if they'll see it or care.

1 - The event was not announced or promoted as other events are. It was just there one day and, if you were lucky, you got to hear about it from a friend or guildie before it expired. The event progression itself was WAY too fast. For many people who work during the week or who selfishly choose to sleep every once in a while, by the time they were able to spend some time in the game the event had already reached 99%, leaving the majority of players on a server unable to participate at all. I would much rather have seen progression mirror past spire type events that lasted for 3-6 weeks regardless of the number of people participating. At least that way EVERYONE would have the opportunity. Currently, the plan is to reset all spires past 50% back to 50%, but no word on if the event will actually be slowed down or not. So, super busy servers like Antonia Bayle will likely reach completion in a couple hours after the event goes live - once again leaving a LOT of players cut out of the loop because they have to, you know, go to work and sleep and stuff.

2 - Once again, this event is HEAVILY geared for level 90 players. Everyone else pretty much gets left out in the cold unless they're lucky enough to still have a freebie griffon they can use to get to the spire point. And, when they get there, they have to be super careful not to get nailed by a rogue mob while they're talking to the errand quest giver or looking at the stuff the merchant is selling - thus destroying their griffon and whatever time they had left to use it. Level 90's are the ONLY ones able to participate in the fighting quest, which rewards 25 tokes every 30 minutes at the druid ring. Everyone else gets 3 tokens per boring errand quest. Yes, tokens are heirloom, but not all rewards are. So, thanks to Sony for the F-U to everyone who doesn't have a 90 toon yet. Like usual, those characters and players just don't count. I would have really liked to have seen a portal to the spire points OR a griffon you could take without first having to discover where it is in order to get there so little toons could actually GET to the event, and then I would have liked to have seen a comprable option for those who couldn't participate in the level-90-only fight quest - maybe a scaled instance as in past ring event quests? Or a higher token reward quest that could be done in addition to the 3-token errand quest?? Really, SOMETHING should have been done to make this event more accessable for toons and players who aren't at 90.

3 - (this one is pretty trivial compared to my first two, but still irks me to no end) GROUND MOUNTS for level 90's ONLY?? Really? How stupid was that?? Level 90's have access to FLYING mounts by questing in the Great Divide OR through the Station Marketplace. Why on earth would they want to collect another GROUND mount? The ground mounts should have been made available to EVERYONE.

Just my 2 cents on the whole thing.

Event is seriously bugged. Tried doing the final event in Eastern Wastes on Antonia Bayle and A RyGorr Wargcaller was 'Not an enemy'. We couldn't finish because of this. We are out 500 tokens, a title and the teleport device now unless SOE Customer Service steps in.

I also hear that the event in GD is bugged too.

The bug I noticed in GD (while not meaning to, it only happened once, Seriously...) was that you got full credit for being AFK in the area as long as you had the quest logged.

I tried that just to see what happened but didn't get credit for the quest.
