It Is Your Destiny
Leaked documents including concept art shed some light on Bungie's next game
Bungie fans, you just got an early Christmas present.
IGN is reporting that a leaked document, supplied to them by a reader, details the story for Bungie's upcoming MMO, code-named Destiny. The document package also contains a smattering of impressive concept art.
Bungie has confirmed to IGN that the material is indeed authentic, and in true Bungie spirit, one-upped the leakers by releasing their own image (posted below.)
“We’re not quite ready to take the wraps off our next universe, but in light of recent events we thought we’d give fans something a little more official over at Bungie.net. Feel free to drop by and say hello! There’s much more to come.”
Based on the leaked documentation, it would seem the game will first arrive on the Xbox 360 in the fall of 2013, with PS3 and PC versions to follow. Of course as with any game in development - especially one that isn't announced yet - that may not end up to be completely accurate.
IGN says the document described the gameplay as "social at it's core." Also, the URL is under the destiny.com domain, so its possible that it's not a code-name after all.
One item worth noting, Kekai Kotaki, long-time ArenaNet concept artist left that company earlier this year to reveal he's now working as an artist at Bungie. It's the perfect storm of awesome.
Bungie is one of the holy trinity of game studios for me (Blizzard and BioWare being the others.) Suffice it to say I'm stoked, and cannot wait to see what they've got up their sleeves.
There is a *lot* more info available over on IGN's site, as well as all of the screenshots for your viewing pleasure. Head over and let us know what you think!
