An Assassin's Creed MMO? Yes, please.

A few hints suggest Ubisoft may be crafting an MMO set in their popular franchise

Nothing like some old-fashioned MMO speculation to kick off your Friday, eh? How would an Assassin's Creed MMO tickle your fancy?

Yesterday, PlayStation Lifestyle took an analytical look at Ubisoft and their upcoming games based on info they've learned, but haven't necessarily been told. Of primary interest to you, dear reader, is a triple-A role-playing game purportedly under development at Massive, a studio located in Sweden and owned by Ubisoft.

Well, after some Sherlock Holmes-like dedication - and a little help from LinkedIn - it looks as though this RPG could in fact be online, and quite possibly even an MMO.

PlayStation Lifestyle takes note of a job posting at the studio - which already has  staff of 250 - that provides further evidence that they're working on something big:

"Meanwhile, this job listing by the developer asks for “experience developing third-person action games” as well as “experience working on an online multiplayer, co-operative or open-world game project”. This listing puts the development team’s size as 250, so it’s certainly not something to be trifled with."

The current evidence points to it being under development for next-gen console platforms, with no hint yet of the PC, which would make sense based on the lineage of the Assassin's Creed series.

The thought of an Assassin's Creed MMO excites me. What would the combat be like? What era would it be set in? If there's a better opportunity for a time-travel MMO, I haven't seen it.

Head over to PlayStation Lifestyle for the full read on this and other Ubisoft speculation.
