Guild Wars 2: WvW Update Delayed to March

Citing the need for further testing, the WvW update originally scheduled for the February content patch has been pushed back to March.

The February content patch for Guild Wars 2 has been dubbed the PvP patch for some time. The month of February was going to be focused on both sPvP and WvW content. Overnight however, Colin Johanson took to the forums to inform players that the February patch would not be seeing the WvW content:

"We’re in the midst of finalizing our February release, which I know had been discussed as a potentially large month for WvW additions.

"Because of how broad the WvW game type is, and how large testing for features for this area of the game can be we’re going to hold off on any major WvW updates until March to allow a bit more time to test and polish."

He goes on to say what players will see in the March update for WvW. The March content patch will add the new WvW progression system which will include new ranks visible to everyone and the new WvW specific abilities and bonuses that you earn as you rank up.

Colin also points out some of the features players will see in future, which could still include the March update. These updates include the continual work to remove culling, expanded reasons to be winning outside the weekly score, additional ways to earn power-progression rewards (ascended gear), ways to get more people into WvW and tackling queueing with high player populations and demands, and overall polish and cleanup.

ArenaNet will release more information about these updates as we get closer to their release dates, but in the meantime they have expanded the WvW team to help build up and expand this core area of the game.
