Millions of eSports fans await a spectacular battle between the best in the world

Just two days to go -- at time of publication -- and the world awaits something truly memorable at the very first League of Legends All-Star event in Shanghai this Friday.

To dispel any confusion for the uninitiated, a whopping 45 million votes were cast by fans for the players they think best represent the pinnacle of eSports gaming in League.

From May 24-26, teams from the Eastern and Western hemispheres will compete for glory, bragging rights and an all-important extra spot in the upcoming Season 3 World Championships.

To help clarify any questions on just what the event is all about, Riot has produced the handy All-Star Primer, including the video below:

The festivities will start with an undoubtedly eye-searing opening ceremony, followed by a 2v2 skill competition series previewing the Magma Chamber map -- you can find out more on the head-to-head matches here.

The action promises to be spectacular, with the first full team match pitting the best of the North American LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) against the cream of China's LPL (LoL Pro League).
