WildStar: Luminai Uncovered

Carbine reveals the lore behind the Dominion's emperor.

It’s Wednesday, which means that another blast of WildStar information has arrived. Right on cue, Carbine has shared some of the lore behind Myrcalus the Vindicator, Emperor of the Dominion faction and Luminai, an ancestral line of Eldan-Human hybrids.

We’ve known since Scott Hawkes interviewed lead narrative designer Chad “Pappy” Moore that Cassian society has a formal hierarchy, but until now it remained shrouded in mystery. Today’s WildStar Wednesday update sheds light on the traditions that have emerged after nearly two thousand years of Luminai rule.

The line of Luminai started with Dominus, gift of the Eldan and first emperor of the Dominion. His descendants later formed the nobility of Dominion society, with Great Houses by each of his progeny. This eventually led to the creation of a rift in Cassian society, between those who could trace their ancestry back to one of the Great Houses, and the lowborn who could not.

Over time, the wealth and power of these family houses attracted incredible influence and political intrigue, inevitably causing struggles as each House sought dominance. And, just as you’d expect with an aristocracy of long-lived superhumans, those machinations can be fatal.

After the Dominion nearly collapsed under the previous emperor, Myrcalus has sworn that he will lead the empire into a “radiant new age of galactic supremacy”. Whether he can hold the faction together during the conquest of Nexus remains to be seen, particularly with the Exiles determined to thwart him at every turn.
