Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates of Tyria

The next content patch for Guild Wars 2 is coming June 25th and features Sky Pirates!

The next content patch for Guild Wars 2 is coming out next Tuesday, June 25th. The Sky Pirates of Tyria content update will continue the Living World saga in addition to adding a new story dungeon, scavenger hunt and more!

Lion’s Arch is in chaos following a murder at the Dragon Bash. Inspector Ellen Kiel is spearheading the investigation and is gathering teams of deputies to capture the perpetrator. Players will need to sharpen their weapons and skills to track down the slippery culprit responsible for the crime.

The update will include:

  • Aetherblade Retreat - This story dungeon is found at the Aetherblade base. After players find the hidden entrance they will need to fight their way to the Aetherblade's Captain and First Mate.
  • "Not So Secret" Jumping Puzzle - Players will find an Aetherblade airship hidden inside a mountain in this new permanent jumping puzzle. Warning: Contains pirates who like a good fight!
  • Sea of Sorrows Scavenger Hunt - This new permanent content comes out in celebration of the new novel Sea of Sorrows by Ree Soesbee. Players will search for clues to the locations of 12 plaques that honor the city of Lion's Arch and its founder.
  • Tons of new Rewards - Aetherblade caches, Mini First Mate Horrik and a monocle are just some of what players will find.

  • Skill and Trait Balance Update - The largest balance patch to date will include significant updates to traits and skills for more build diversity. No profession trait line has been left untouched!
  • Custom Arenas and Spectator Mode leaves Beta - Custom Arena Starter Kits will now be available for anyone to purchase through the Gem Store.
  • WvW Mortar Mastery - Mortars join the WvW ability tree with increased mortar blast radius, more damage, shorter cooldowns and the new skill Mortar Barrage.

The next Guild Wars novel, Sea of Sorrows, is also releasing on Tuesday, June 25th. You can check out ZAM's interview with Ree Soesbee, Lead Narrative Designer at ArenaNet, where she talks about writing the novel. In case you were wondering, the interview is pretty much spoiler free.
