The content patch next week will let players decide the Living World's future!

The next content update for Guild Wars 2, Cutthroat Politics, will go live July 23rd.

Recently in the Living World story, a member of the Lion's Arch Captain's Council was killed and, in the next patch, players will vote for who they want to fill the vacant seat. The choice players will have to make is between Ellen Kiel, the war hero that players have interacted with through many of the Living World stories, and Evon Gnashblade, the prominent merchant in charge of the Black Lion Trading Company. Players will decide by using support tokens and coin for their favorite candidate between July 23rd and August 5th.

Along with the Living World elections, players will see three new events, new backpack and mini-pet rewards and another WvW ability line.

• Southsun Survival -- Players will fight in a battle to the last one standing, but they will only have a bow and any supplies they can scavenge to do it.
• Aspect Arena -- This new PvP activity will have players picking one of the Aspects (Lightning, Sun or Wind which grant different maneuvers and fighting skills) and working together as a team to collect crystals.
• Candidate Trials -- Players can enter solo or in a group to support their chosen candidate by taking out waves of Aetherblade pirates. Support tokens and loot (including a rare chance at Aetherized weapons) await players in the Trials.

• Players can also obtain the Desert Rose and Zephyr Rucksack back pieces through the Southsun Survival and Aspect Arena respectfully.
• Players who complete each of the Gnashblade Supporter and Kiel Supporter meta achievements will unlock mini-pets of the respective candidate.
• Catapult Mastery -- This new WvW ability line will increase damage done to walls, inflict extra damage against other siege weapon, increase attack radius and unlock a new skill.
