EA Announces First SimCity Expansion Pack
"Cities of Tomorrow" will be released for PC and Mac in November.
This afternoon Electronic Arts announced the first expansion pack for SimCity, Cities of Tomorrow, is currently in development for PC and Mac and will be released on November 12, 2013.
“Will the world of tomorrow be a utopia powered by clean energy or an industrial society consumed by mass commercialism?” said Patrick Buechner, General Manager, Maxis Emeryville. “With SimCity Cities of Tomorrow, players can build the future as they imagine it. Transport your Sims on MagLev, power your cities with fusion reactors or tidal wave generators, manufacture a legion of drones to serve your Sims and build massive MegaTowers that dwarf modern skyscrapers. We’re giving you plausible technologies to take your cities onto a journey 50 years into the future. What will you create?”
Cities of Tomorrow will feature new regions, near future technologies, new city specializations, and new transportation methods. For the first time in franchise history cities will have the capability of being built vertically using multi-zone Mega Towers that soar high into the skies. Manical mayors can rain chaos upon their people with a brand-new disaster that is exclusive to the expansion pack.
SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow will be available for PC and Mac and is not yet rated. The base game is required for the expansion. Pre-orders are open for $29.99 at the official SimCity website.
Current players can help the real world through a Red Cross add-on set, which is available until September 2014. Throughout this year-long campaign, EA will give at least eighty percent of the player’s payment (less applicable taxes) for the Red Cross downloadable content, with a minimum of $100,000, to support humanitarian services of the participating Red Cross National Societies. Visit the Origin store to find out more about the SimCity and the Red Cross in-game content.
