Valve Announces Steam Controller

Valve will release a gamepad that is designed to work with all Steam games.

Coming off the heels of the recent SteamOS and Steam Machines announcements, today Valve has revealed Steam Controller, designed to work with all past, present, and future games on Steam, including ones not built with controller support.

Traditional gamepads force us to accept compromises. We’ve made it a goal to improve upon the resolution and fidelity of input that’s possible with those devices. The Steam controller offers a new and, we believe, vastly superior control scheme, all while enabling you to play from the comfort of your sofa. Built with high-precision input technologies and focused on low-latency performance, the Steam controller is just what the living-room ordered.

Features include dual trackpads, precise haptic feedback, a touch screen, symmetrically placed buttons, shared configurations and an openness that will enable users to contribute to the design of Steam Controller.
