SimCity Improving Since Rocky March Launch
Maxis targets improvements to the game's core tenets and releases a trailer for the upcoming expansion.
Since launching in March SimCity has seen its share of troubles. In the last eight major game updates Maxis has targeted core areas of the game that the community believed needed to be reworked. Since its launch Maxis has strived to:
- Improve game client stability
- Allow previously disabled features (Cheetah Speed, Achievements, Region Filters, Leaderboards)
- Upgraded servers in order to ensure a smooth online experience
- Decreased Terrain clipping (specifically in regards to roads)
Maxis has also added a plethora of new features in order to expand the game's systems for new and existing players alike. These include:
- The ability to raise and lower roads (tunnels, bridges, and underpasses, hooray!)
- Six new multi-entrance region maps
- 80 new building variations
- 20 new hotels
- Addition of "Houses of Worship"
- The addition of the "Tree Tool," which allows players to plant individual trees.
In addition to the upgrades and tweaks Maxis is planning to roll out a futuristic themed expansion pack, SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow. The expansion hits store shelves on the 12th of November and adds a wealth of new content for those who have grown tired of the stand-alone game. Are these new features enough to lure former players back into SimCity or enough to entice new players to finally give the game a go? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
