EVE: Valkyrie - Fanfest 2014 Announcements

Today's EVE Fanfest panel released several new tidbits on Valkyrie!

Colt "ShdwFlm" Casey has a report on today's EVE: Valkyrie announcements, and we also have an exciting new trailer to share!

Valkyrie's engine has moved from Unity to Unreal Engine 4. At first glance hands-on, there wasn't an immediate visual difference -- but the game looks and feels as good as ever. One Valkyrie developer mentioned that while Unity was good to start, UE4 means a higher ceiling for long-term quality. Assets got pulled over from Unity, but the code (understandably) had to be redone.

This is the first time players in the EU people are wearing the Oculus DK2 with Valkyrie. The DK2 headsets are a step beyond the silver-spotted Crystal Cove, sensors hidden behind the shell. Small cameras 1 to 1.5m away detect the positional tracking. Considering there are "roughly 17 of these in the world", press and attendees at Fanfest have received ample friendly warnings.

Actress Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame will be voicing the main lore character—Rán Kavik—who is the "First Valkyrie" and will be a frequent voice in your ear.
