Warhammer 40,000: Chess - Regicide Revealed
Use your brain to bash brains in!
Chess. Totally hardcore, right?
If you didn't think so before, Hammerfall Publishing will change that with their upcoming game "Warhammer®40,000®: Chess – Regicide". Set in the cruel, unforgiving Warhammer 40K universe, W40K Chess will mix bloodshed with "the strategy and tactical play of chess".
One's first thoughts go to the gaming-ancient Battle Chess series, or the tactical grid-based Blood Bowl games. Project Lead Cathrin Machin says that "In creating the ground-breaking new Codex chess engine, the campaign mode represents a world first in strategy gaming".
That's a surprisingly strong statement on a game that seems fairly straight-forward. Also, we can't imagine it'll look much like chess by the end of development. The closest resemblances might be the same board with a specific win-condition target. For more information, check out the announcement, the teaser below, or the countdown page Monday night.
