Sorcerer King: New 4X Game from Stardock
Hero, check. City, check. Spellbook, check. Looks like we're all set to save the world!
"If this were a traditional strategy game terms, the bad guy would have already won – civilization lies in ruins, and twisted monsters roam freely through the scattered wreckage. Not satisfied with his victory, though, the evil Sorcerer King is bent on destroying the world in his quest to become a god himself."
Stardock has introduced Sorcerer King, a new 4X game with a twist. It has an asymmetrical design where you don't start off on even-footing with your foe. With a hero, a city, and a spellbook, you must preventing him from destroying the world's remaining elemental shards. You can get it now, in Beta, for $34 on the official store or Steam.
Gameplay looks simple and pleasant with nice visuals. It's a far cry from the complexity of some other 4X games, likely to draw in a new crowd of players.
Storywise, the game is humorously vanilla: bad guy cloaked in shadows (Sorcerer King) seeks to destroy magical items (elemental shards) to annihilate the world. At least the premise won't get in the way of enjoying the game!
