Results of the 18th Annual DICE Awards
The peer-based award show dishes out accolades to several major 2014 titles.
The DICE Awards aired its 18th annual show on Twitch last night, celebrating another successful year in gaming. A wide variety of categories were presented, with Dragon Age: Inquisition scoring the top prize, Destiny snagging four of its own and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor dominating, landing eight awards in total. Winners were:
- Game of the Year — Dragon Age: Inquisition (our review)
- Action Game of the Year — Destiny
- Adventure Game of the Year — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- D.I.C.E. Sprite Award — Transistor
- Family Game of the Year — LittleBigPlanet 3 (our review)
- Fighting Game of the Year — Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Handheld Game of the Year — Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
- Mobile Game of the Year — Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
- Racing Game of the Year — Mario Kart 8
- RPG/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year — Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Sports Game of the Year — FIFA 15
- Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year — Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
Other awards included:
- Outstanding Achievement in Animation — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction — Monument Valley
- Outstanding Achievement in Character — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (for Talion)
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Design — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay — Destiny
- Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition — Destiny
- Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design — Destiny
- Outstanding Achievement in Story — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Outstanding Innovation in Gaming — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
