Applying for World Emigration (Sep. 22)

The commencement of European FINAL FANTASY XI service has increased the overall population during peak times. Though the servers are able to cope with the added load, we have noticed that the peak population at 7:00 (PDT) has increased drastically, with more Japanese and North American players joining the game. For this reason, we have decided to invite players to emigrate to different Worlds to help balance the overall population. Please read the following carefully. If you wish to emigrate, please follow the instructions below. *Currently, access peak fluctuations for the European version are within acceptable levels. [World Emigration Guidelines] Applicable Worlds: -All Worlds Application Period: >From Sep. 22 (Wed) 02:00 (PDT) until Oct. 2, 8:00 (PDT) Regarding new World implementation and emigration: -Details regarding whether or not the emigration will take place, the date and time of emigration, the number of new Worlds created, and details about the configuration of new Worlds will be based on the outcome of the recruitment. There will be an announcement at a later time. -3 new Worlds are scheduled to be created. In the event that applicants are divided among multiple Worlds, all applicants from a single World will be moved into the same new World. -In the event that the number of players who wish to emigrate to the new World does not fill up one whole World, the World shift will be postponed. How to apply for World emigration: When the application period begins, an NPC called the World Shifter will appear in each of the following areas. By talking to this NPC, you can apply for or cancel World emigration, and confirm your character's emigration status. Please read the World Shifter's responses carefully before submitting an application. Ru'Lude Gardens (I-10) Port San d'Oria (I-8) Port Bastok (L-8) Windurst Walls (G-6) *Note: After the application deadline, you will be unable to make any further requests for World emigration. How to confirm your World emigration status: During the application period, a login message will appear indicating your World emigration status. If you are already logged in, you can view this message by entering "/smes". Please be sure to confirm your status before the end of the application period. *Message displayed when applying for World emigration: "You have submitted an application for World emigration." *Message displayed when not applying for World emigration: "You have not submitted an application for World emigration." CAUTION: If you are considering applying for World emigration, please read the following points to ensure a smooth transition. When emigrating: Emigration of characters is done one at a time. If you request emigration for any of your other characters, please conduct all applications separately. Character name: If your character happens to have the same name as another player in the World to which you emigrate, you will have to change your name before entering that World. If you need to change your name, your name will be shown in yellow, and you must follow the on-screen instructions. This name change will not affect your Friend List. Delivery Box/Auction items: All items up for auction and in your Delivery Box will be lost when you emigrate. Please collect these items before moving. Any items in your Mog Safe will be transported with you to the new world. Regarding used linkshells: Following a World shift, your linkshells will be automatically exchanged with new, unopened linkshells. If you have an unused linkshell, you may bring it to the new World. If a linkshell owner emigrates, the player's old linkshell will be deactivated and a new unopened linkshell will be automatically provided.

So, it looks like they would all end up in the same (new) world, as long as they all had emigration applications in...
SE not prepared

You could almost see this happening before the game was released in European countries. I thought SE would have prepared for an overload of population on these servers. A way that this could have been avoided was for SE to open the new worlds about a month before the European release, allowing new NA & JP players onto this server, and inviting some higher lvls to the new worlds to balance the lvls out, and to allow the higher lvls to help the lower lvls out. It is clear to me that if only new players go to the new worlds, there would be a lot of frustration in them, without the help of higher players to guide them.

I think SE was ILL prepared for this European launch, but I like the idea of emigrating, but probably won’t unless my entire linkshell decides to. I am frightened like they Immigrants where coming over to North America way back when.

Regardless,

It's not that Square Enix was unprepared, they needed to wait for the European launch to allow immigration.

As for inviting higher levels, that's exactly what SE is doing with this immegration, except high, mid, and low levels are invited to change servers if they would like. It's not forced, so if you like your server, you don't have to apply.

Myself, I would consider it pretty dangerous to change servers. There is probably at least 3-4 people that have horrible reputations on their server to the point where they can't play anymore. If all of those players move, then those 3 worlds will have a good number of bad people on them. Not that everyone on the world would be bad. Those 3 servers would end up being the "ghetto" of worlds for FFXI, where the "crime" rate would be high.

This is Fantastic!

They will move the character whom you spent many hours leveling jobs, combat, and craft skills, along with all of your precious AF gear, and special Rare/EX items ! Not to mention the hard earned gil you have.

What could possibly go wrong ?

this might be interresting for crafters who are tired of people undercutting prices
switch to a new server, set the prices from scratch
and according to the emigration details, you will be moving to a brand new server so it is unlikely that it will be as crowded as existing servers are
just keep in mind that high level characters are also able to emigrate, so you cant get rid of that just by switching servers...theyll still be around
emigration to where?

omg, retarded. i knew this was coming...

They have done this before(around November of last year).. and it is not retarded. How can completely control server population with World Passes available? They can't. Plus they are adding 3 new worlds.. Have you ever heard the term "load-balancing."

Quote:

should make a ps2 server too

And no they shouldn't just make a PS2 server only! The whole idea is to have a game that is multi-platform and playable wherever.

If so its time for an all NA server!!!

So you have a problem playing with people from other countries? or you just can't understand them? Deal with it. It is nice to play with people of many different cultures.

Yes it is like a free world pass, but you have to apply for emigration. And this doesn't mean you will get the server you want(it might be fuller than your own).

The announcement information did not specify if all jobs and lvls will be unchanged it seems like it should, but leaving out that minor detail makes me a little nervous.

Please read more about emigration that what you get on this website(post from last world emigration - http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1045.shtml). I started playing this game last October and in November I used world emigration to move from Alexander to Caitsith. It went extremely smooth.

Honestly Reeve, I really don't know what's going on with the main page. I have posted some very helpful information to the main page news, and have been rated down for it. Granted, I really don't feel that there is something DIABOLICALLY helpfull with your post, it's just a statement. A completely innocent one and really doesn't deserve a rate down.

Unfortunately, there are others who may possibly disagree. Because of this, I have decided to not post to the main page unless I say something absolutely PROFOUND. Is this good? Not really, some slightly helpful information gets left out, and nobody gets to hear my WITTY BANTER \(^.^)/. but You win some and you lose some I suppose.

I for one, am curious, and have a question. I realize that this is a bit down the list of posts, but has anyone here actually been through the world emmigration process? There was one that took place last year, but I can't remember hearing of anyone that wanted to go or that did go. How did the new world turn out?

Notice... THIS post was rated down from a 4.15 to a 1.45.

If you're going to rate me down like that tell me why.

I have a strange feeling you'll see a lot of people on Midgardsormr doing this, its not overcrowded, but with the screwed up economy and the number of problems asscoiated with the NC LS there, I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of higher level people leave.

Look at it this way: you get a fresh start. If there was some way to just move new people to the new servers, they'd get a totally fresh start without the insane prices and the uber levels around. It'd be like a totally virgin Vana'deil. All told though, I'm happy on Fairy. :-)

Um...last I knew you can log into any account via PC or PS2. That means if all the ps2 players made up their own server...all someone would have to do is log into that server through a PC and they can bot. So really you can't stop botting even on a "ps2 only" server. Unless they decided that it would be best to keep content id's strictly for use by a ps2 or pc which they don't.

I didnt think you could log in on another machine and play your character?
no its better
# Sep 22 2004 at 8:19 AM Rating: Default
You can move your full character, stats, lvl, rank and items to a new server free of charge because SE botched things with their population control
So we get to keep our jobs and lvls?

Not really. A world pass simply allows you to create a brand new character on another world. Emigration is moving an entire existing character (gil, items, and jobs) to a different world.
