At the following time we will be performing a version update of the PlayOnline Viewer. There will be no PlayOnline Server Maintenance during this version update. The use of PlayOnline, FINAL FANTASY XI, and Tetra Master will continue as normal. *The client software will also be updated at this time. The version update process will automatically begin upon login after the time stated below. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen. [Affected Period] Jan. 18, 2005 from 23:00 (PST) *Maintenance completion time may be subject to change. [Important Update Details] - The BGMs that will be added into designated pages will now play without the version update. - Various other fixes.

I wouldn’t know about BGM. I have it turned off. When I first started I liked it, but as time went on the music drove me nuts. As a result I shut it down. It wouldn’t bother me if they removed the BGM all together. SE needs to focus more on the dc problems in their servers than worrying about music I don’t pay to listen to music. I pay to play.

I've only been playing for a few months, and i've come to like the BGM, but yeah a change in BGM would be nice. Sandoria's gets rather catching after the first half hour lol. Something that I think would be cool is, what if you could change the BGM music to what you wanted? I personally think that would rock.

If you like, you *can* switch the data files around so the music you want to hear is played in place of an existing track.

Personally, I've ripped a few tracks from my Last Exile and .Hack anime OSTs to replace some of the duller scores in the game.

Um, This is a POL viewer update. It shouldn't have any effect on the FFXI BGM. I expect that they are changing the BGM that is heard on pages within POL itself.

Can someone help me out? Is it only the BGM on the opening screens that will change or will it be the BGM that's actually in-game? I really enjoyed the Jeuno holiday music when it was on, I really hope SE decides to change the in-game music because it becomes so redundant after a while.

I was on last night around 9-11pm est on 01/17/04 and I was Dced about 15 times in that time frame. I was wandering will the upgrade fix this problem? Did anyone else have a similar problem in that time frame.

I got d/c'd this morning at around 1:30am est. I thought it was my Internet connection but now I think it was POL. I'm on the Pandemonium server.

I am on the Diaoblo Server. I would get Dced about every 10 mins and get a timed out error.
FFXI-1331 or 3113 was the error code.
I called and gave my ISP hell, they checked my connection and said that it working as normal.
So is the problem with PlayOnline, or my Playstation2.

i got d/c'd and i couldnt log back for like 15-20mins. I would get to the "Retrieving Freindlist" and it would'nt go any farther. After about 20min's and a few restarts of my router and computer i got back in. Dont konw whats wrong.

I tried to log on to POL today, but i got a Error message a DNSI error.. I wonder what was goin on and then i read this. They Say it'll be down till 23:00 PST Jan.18 2005... Does that mean no one can play FFXI till Roughly Wednesday?

The JP upgrade info states the same thing as the NA---only a mention that it adds new BGM, and does "other things".

Now if only they would fix the BGM so that the volume settings carried over into when you first load the POL viewer and when you are selecting a char/handle. I have mine set to about 40% and it's fine during most screens, but on those two, it blares quite annoyingly...

Edit: please ignore the fat-fingered subject. :P
