Ouryu is PM 4-2 cap 50.. i wander if i can get credit for doing that when im on PM 3-3 lol... I think all i need is Windy NM 2 cutsceens and PM 3-5 BCNM fight

FAME + FORTUNE = T-shirt with Rare/Ex on it ??? lol

"And there are some SERIOUS prizes here"

Sarcasm lives even on the net! :D Really, the prizes suck...I mean, the motherboard and CPU are alright, but most gamers prefer AMD so mostly casual people want it and mostly casual people aren't going to try to do this or wont be able to do this. =_=x God I hate buisness deals like that. ><

The tenzen fight with the best prize, is heard to be extremely hard. And you don't just fight tenzen...

I really wish they would have one of these events near Chicago some day instead of Hawaii and California :/
The idea sounds interesting, though

This just seems soooo wrong. First, nobody is going to pay airfare from anywheres in the continental US, or from European countries, or even Japan, in order to take part in a BCNM battle with 6 strangers. This limits the event to people who actually live in Hawaii, who play FFXI, who aren't busy enjoying their tropical paradise to actually show up.
Second, the best prize - the Intel Motherboard and CPU - isn't guaranteed to be the latest board with the fastest CPU attached. And I'm sure that not all FFXI players know how to build a PC.
Third - they're giving us very little information about the battles - We assume that they're capped battles, and that our character data will be imported to the event. Will disposable items be provided upon request, or will they need to be bought on the world servers beforehand? Will everyone actually remember to buy them before heading to the event?
Fourth - you're limited to choosing among the people who show up at the event, and are limited to the jobs they have levelled up. This will limit your ability to even take on the top NM's. I would expect a lot of $50 or less prizes being handed out.
Finally, the poor decision of location, prizes, and the resulting lack of turnout will discourage the event to take place in other areas.

Well, from the way things are worded "PC Gamerz in Aiea, Hawaii will be the first battleground..." it looks like they will have more of these. They will probably go all over the place so don't get mad that the first one is in Hawaii.

they need to tour the us... not the one state that is right next to japan... we all know why they only go to hawaii with this stuff... mean while the other 500,000 of us on the east coast, or heck, even the UK, and europe are left out all the time. ive played for more then a year, thats more then 100+ dollars on monthly fees, i should get something close to me. you know se can afford a bus to tour with, if howard stern can tour the US when he leaves for satallite radio, SE can tour as well...

Are you under the impression that there are only like 10 people that play FFXI in Hawaii?

This is only the second friggin' tour. Cool it!

"Time Bomb FINAL FANTASY XI Atlas or
FINAL FANTASY XI Game"

Here is something I did with my bored time of not playing FFXI

$681 is the cheapest price I can find for just a flight to Hawaii from Orlando, FL, and that is just for one Adult. $681 X 6people is 4086 dollars, but most likely everyone I know is on the east coast, so prices may vary a little. Now, to do this for a game that that I already own, and is under $50 or a book that most likely costs less than the game is a little insane.
bs <you can have this>

What level are these bosses? it would suck big time if they were like 80 and a pt of lv 60's went in lol.

Talk about Jail House Justice...

Is this thing lvl capped? If so what lvl? If it has no cap I think I'll wait until next year when I get a job above 60 -_-;;
-------------------------------

If you take a look at the monsters you can fight, all of these are level capped fights, BCNMs, ENMs and mission BCNMs.
I'm assuming the level cap for the fights at the comp will be the same as in the game, otherwise - they will be too easy, or just plain impossible.
Interesting Idea

Wow, that's really cool. I hope one of these comes to the east coast. I would figure a party of 6 summoners could take down anything they throw at the players, but that's just my guess :P. Either way, good luck to all of those who participate in Hawaii.
Hmm.

It could be worse you could live in the mid-west... all we have is cows at least you get a beach.
Theres no chance in hell SE will ever concider comming out here ; ;
RE: east cost?

lol yeah...I'm from the midwest as well...we have way too many cows and bad weather (the upside is that there will always be cheese and ice cream)...

Why do they never do live events around us? Firstly, they assume no one would come. Secondly that'd just be too easy on everyone...people from the midwest stay here, airfare to here is cheap and people from the west or east are only off a couple hours from jet lag...everyone would win.

Heck, I'd settle for an east coast event...but for some reason the events are all on the west coast...or in the middle of the ocean.

My god people complain too damn much. So they are coming to Hawaii? Be happy for others that will finally get to attend an event for ONCE. You know how many gaming events/gatherings take place on the east and west coasts, compared to here? I'd venture to say at least 100/1 ration, if not 1,000/1. Its not like they will never come to the east coast. I for one will be there to enjoy the event, and if anyone needs a 6th member for this event, feel free to contact me.

Edit: Yay for rate downs.. some people.. /sigh

seems like an awesome idea if everyone in your LS were that close of friends. It would be like a vacation in hawaii with your buddies.

But i believe most LS members are all scattered around the USA and therefore spending $500 for round trip airfare tix not including hospitality/food/etc so you can hang with ppl that you dont know very well in RL might be just weird.

hawaii is such a nice place i doubt anybody local there plays FFxi. Perfect nice weather to go out and hawt ladies everywhere. beach>>gym>>beach>>gym>>beach>>gym etc etc FFxi? i think not!

good luck tho to everyone going !
