What would really be cool would be if they did a battle royale with JP Servers vs US Servers vs Euro Servers. That would give everyone a chance to gain some much needed respect or lose some :P

you guys are all a bunch of cry babys...

IT IS A JP GAME! hence the JP get everything first. JP have wwwaaayyy more players then NA and EU, make the majority happy, thats the rule of the world.

Honestly my question is, how can we watch? and will they have one that isnt level 60 cap?

Plus for the guy who is crying over events, STFU there are TONS of NA events. and wasnt "summer fest" a random event, i sure as hell have never heard of it in Japan. and it was all one huge event that they had diffrent phases on, which i cant wait for another one. I loved the first part exploring all the high level areas as a level 1, thats just awsome when you are level 1-50.

Besides SE isnt going to offer free exp/uber items for cheesey events, not everyone plays this game to be 133704 and uber, some people just want to have a bit of fun. these events are for those people who want to have fun and take a break of constant exp grinding and questing.
what do you expect? the moogle to tell you its america day and hand out level 1 all job guns that do 999999999 dmg with a 1 delay and enhament produce 99 bullets per day?

please excuse my horrid spelling i dont have time to proof my post today im at work and this alot of these babys are pissing me off with there SE doesnt love me!! attitudes.

I've been trying to find information on the Japanese Ballista Royale so we know what to expect when we get them.

The website is http://www.famitsu.com/sp/br/ It appears to be sponsered by some company. Possibly a stragity guide or game magazine publisher.

Using babelfish it seems you register with a team of 6-10 people. There are a series of fights between teams on weekends to find the best team from each server, then the teams from each server fight until there are 4 teams left. I'm not sure, but I think for the final, teams meet in real life where there winner is decided.

While you can have 10 people on a team, only 6 may participate in each fight, so the extras are only there if some people can't make it to all the fights.

Each player has to have a different job.

Each game is 20 minutes long with a 60 cap and no subjobs.

Someone who knows Japanese could probably provide better detail.

This could be quite good. Teams will be able to work together much better then pickup groups in standard Ballista. They could even practice together.

I really like the requirement that each player must have a different job.

yeah tell me about it man, we get all the maintenance in our prime time play, crap ISP's, and no events. SE shud sort themselves out, i play like 6hrs a day at least and I wud like more to do than ballista or xp all the time

I knew that as soon as i read this new update that there were going to be a lot of people complaining. why don't you all just suck it up and wait your turn. It was started in japan, and that is the bottom line. It will come to the NA side. probably sooner then later

This post isn't intended to bash FFXI, I love the game and have been hopelessly addicted to it since it's release. Having said that, Diorama Ghelsba is another failed attempt by SE to make ffxi pvp competitive with other mo pvp. Having to reserve a area and putting a lv cap on the macth makes alot of ppl not want to show up for it. They've made ballista and this new area more of a chore then fun. In other mo's they have areas that are pvp, all the time, no reservations needed, you show up you play, some are lv caped, some are not. When you make having fun as tedious as they have made ballista then it really ceases to be fun for most ppl.

The reason the Japanese get to go first is because it's a Japanese game. Now with that out of the way, read the damn thing before you comment on it, because at that point, not only do we look racist, but stupid as well.

So please, stop trying to make bad excuses to hate the Japanese when there are plenty of valid good excuses already available - like the recent japanese textbook omition of Japan's historic failed imperialistic takeover of previously established nations (WWII). Or the fact that they honestly believe (been over there a few times, I've seen it) that they are 4 times as capable of success than a person of any other nation. Or you could just hate them because the Japanese mages don't understand the use of the Haste spell in a Ninja Tank party (my personal favorite). But whatever you do, read the damn thread that you're replying to.

Racism is a 2 way street, if you're going to hate someone, at least have an idea or a clue as to why you hate them other than "I'm jumping on the bandwagon because it's cool to hate the Japanese! Pink is the new purple(z0rz)!"

I can't wait for an American Battle Royale. I don't like having the only place you can reserve and play ballista any time you want GONE for hours while it happens.

:( I hope someday SE does adjust the kinks of a PVP. PVP isn't supposed to be this complicated just to set-up.. find the people that'll play with you... Hope you can reserve an area..

They're not saying that JP are better, they're saying that it has been implimented for the JP client first, just like it has been done since the very first person ever logged on to FFXI.

Think of it this way, by the time the NA and EU Ballista Royales roll around, hopefully the bugs will be worked out and it might be improved! Plus it give us more time to learn what's going on and prepare our teams better. So gather your friends, reserve a Diorama session, and practice, practice, practice!

thats what the beta servers are for.

they keep touting this game as "cross-platform, cross-nation", but they repeatably pull crap like this.

a majority of the events are based from japan holidays.

-the recent girl thing.
-the recent boy thing.
-last years summer fest (both the duo fun/scare house part, and the later gold fish scooping)

i understand it was a japan game first, and SE is mostly a japan company, but not everyone is japanese.
and that japan has a vibrant rich in-depth culture, but i dont want a culture lesson in a fantasy game.

just make up some random "ingame" crap and pick a time and do it.

oh, and events dont need to last 2 weeks. it just get annoying seeing the moogle sitting there all alone after 3 days.

oh, and SE, if you want people to participate in these events, come up with some decent prizes.
and not just "pretty" stuff like the kimonos.

If they're gonna have our holidays, they might as well be mutually inclusive and have JP holidays. It's only fair, right? Also, events last two weeks because some people can't get on too often--me for one, because of many reasons. I know a few people who get one once a month and they're lucky if they can participate in an event.
