it really just is plain stupidity of them to have implemented this system. The 'dazed mob' that wanders back to its regular area w/o aggro danger would have been better. A cooldown of 30+ seconds or so before the disappearance would have greatly helped us BST that need a pet on the opposite side of a map to stay alive with us.

There are other ideas that I'm sure any of us could come up with that wouldn't be as dip-********** as the 'magic-y disappearing mobs of wonder' now in place.

I'm more frustrated with SE for this one than any other change they've made in the game. They have a pretty good track record in my mind, but making a very hard to level job even tougher is idiotic. I work and have school and can't waste my time being a generic melee in normal parties wasting expensive jugs and food.

SE's lost me as a customer, but it won't stop me from emailing the **** out of them still. Remember, there are other options to control MPKs, this was just simply the one they decided to choose. I want them to realize their mistake...but I don't have high hopes. Enjoy the game guys

I don't believe it was SE's intent to nerf the Beastmaster job, lol. I just think this was a major oversight. ---- Allowing us to use weaker, more fragile, and more expensive "Jug Pets" without an xp cut is not an even trade.---- Why do we even have a charm ability then? We have to spend gil on jug pets and then the food to heal them? I have seen many good alternatives.

- Mobs going into a "Dazed" (non-aggro) state was good.
- Creating a delay (without aggro) before they disappear.
- Creating more familiars
- Giving Jug Pets a TP gain increase to use special attack more often to do more damage.
- Allow pets to zone with you.
- Offer a "Rest" ability or Regen when commanded to "Stay"
- Allow Jug Pets to remain out longer.
- Shorten the "Call Beast" recast delay.
- Allow us to use "Cure" on our pets/familiars.

update

well im a 73 bst and i don't realy see a problem with the pets despawning when you leave them about 40sec later you get a pet 100%hp ready to go. if your xping that shouldnt be a problem cause as a bst solo or in a bst pt duo/tro there will be more than 1 pet around to charm so SE did fine with that. yes they could had made the mob just walk back to there home spot with no argo. in my bst ls they talk of well they messed up the farming for bst too, well i think maby they made it alittle slow but still easy to do. just leave/charm the mob till it regans its health and for these people that say oh just use the pet food to heal up your pet.... well its apparent your not a bst or one that is 35+ because 420 hp max on a good day is all you will get from your best pet food and to a (em) pet thats like 3-4 hits on it from a (vt/it)mob so its not going to win you a fight, yea sure its good for farming, ks/bc runs, and bst that use jugs in a regular pt. the problem i see/have and i hope its a glitch that will be fixed is the con on the pet when it respawns it should be the same as when it despawned unless your mob killed it midd fight, but thats not the case so inturn it makes it very difficult to keep (em) pets in a dominantly (t) area. but maby SE will here our cries for help, tho i wouldnt get my hopes up, i would say fill these boards with sujestions to SE and not rant and rave just ask nice till then quit or press on, i have 50k xp more and i will be done lvling this job so as long as they dont take charm away i will grind it out...
It occurs to me...

Anyone ever wonder if maybe this BST "nerfing" is actually in prep for the next expansion? Like, maybe there's something going on/available in the next expansion that will make everyone really glad they've put things the way they are now. Remember, the developers have full knowledge of what's ahead for a game and often "fixes" in one patch are done in preparation for another/expansion. Just a thought.

Anyone know whats up with the starlight celebration? LMAO... all I am getting is brilliant snow, bleh. I was just curious if there was a system and what not.
Other funny thing about bst now
# Dec 15 2005 at 6:11 PM Rating: Decent
I'm not sure if anyone else had this happen to them but its kind of funny. As a BST I was lev in CN and charmed a blazer beetle = fail charm so I use "Tame" = "The blazer beetle seems friendlier" ok but now its also invisible lol.
Tried this on another failed charm an hour later and the same thing on an Exoray. I was able to use these invisible pets as normal pets.

Anyone else had this happen?

I have mixed thoughts about the Update "Leave" issues. on one hand the mob dissapering is a pain but on the other hand now you never have to worry about it linking back to the fight eg. Beetle VS Beetle

A potentially easy fix.
# Dec 15 2005 at 4:33 PM Rating: Default
I do agree that there is a problem with bst leave, i am a bst, i do not mpk. i think that there could be a potentially easy solution, make pets that would normally aggro or link when released, have aggro/link properties removed from them until they wander back to their original spawn place, where the aggro/link properties would once again 'work'. and as for non aggro/link mobs released by a bst, no action would need to be taken for obvious reasons.

P.S. If you down rated rukkus for an obviously thought-out post, you are a pile of trash not worth pitying and don't deserve the internet priviledges that your mommy and daddy let you play with.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 15 2005 at 2:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After this update i started BST. Knowing all the people compalining about the glitch they've been taking advantage of made me want to level it just to prove it still works. And the job is very fun I might add!

Your right!

there is a BST leave problem!!

And so are you!

The root of the problem is with how the mobs behave when taken outside there "home area". Leave itself was never tampered with, its just that pets vanish now when taken outside there homes. The Leave issue is a side effect of the MPK fix and the logic coded in.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 15 2005 at 2:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Funny thing is BSTs are so used to abusing a loophole, they think it's their right to have it.

Just a thought... When is FFXI coming out with a new Strategy Guide? Don't tell me that Atlas book counted... After doing all the rank missions, promy's, and (in book) fame quests then what? I know there has to be so much more available.

... If someone hears anything, let me know. I'll be leveling or crafting. lol

Honestly, do you really need Bradey Games to make another "bible" for FFXI full of misinformation about jobs and instructions how to do things that have long since changed or become easier via othe methods.

It's simple... if you can get on an online role playing game you should be able to get online the web to read FREE information and how-to's. Don't give Bradey anymore money on FFXI please. It's clear they are nubs in the game since they can't post anything related to areas obtained by beating Zilart or Promathia missions. I wonder if they've even beaten the promys yet. lol

Actually, that's intentional. From the update notes:

Quote:
When using the "Seek Member" function under "Party" in the main menu, the resulting list will now include all party-seeking characters in the region without first narrowing the search parameters to a level range close to your own.

ie, if you want to restrict the Search to your level range only, you need to do it manually/type it out.
RE: Seek

I often form a party where I am no the low or high end of the spectrum. ie 45-47 I'm 45 or 48-50 I'm 50. In the old methode I couldn't find anyone level 47 in my area without typing it out when I was 45. This way I can see anyone in the area in my party range not just one possible party range. I like the change.

I was aware of this in the notes, but I fail to see the logic behind changing it. I don't understand how this makes looking for people any easier. I'm sure there's a reason behind it, otherwise they wouldn't have done it, but I just don't see it. Is there anybody here that's pleased with this change, or able to find a good enough reason for them to have changed it? o.o

I always thought it would make it easier for ordinary experience parties to do the opposite to it. That is, show people in the same level range, but show them in all areas.

Tolerant BST
# Dec 15 2005 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
I am a BST and yes there is a huge inconvenience for the job. The "Leave" issue is just that. Its not a mistake. SE thinks that letting us use familiars with an XP penalty is an even trade and its not. A small oversight that I am sure will be approached.

Rather than get on here all the time to complain and argue, I will continue my efforts despite this obstacle. I haven't been hindered too much as of yet, but I could see where there might eventually be a problem.

Giving BST a pet command of "Rest" or allowing a "Regen" affect while commanded to "Stay" would be an appreciated step in the right direction for the preservation of BST.

"2 kinds of people. Ones who talk about problems and ones who talk about solutions."

Now watch my approval rating go down, lol.

Err.. I'm no BST.. but I have done some research and I'm currently lvling it as a "bored job" when I'm tired of WHM. But anywho, didn't SE make the pet food have a regen effect added now as well as the main heal effect? Just a though..

Except that when RNGs were "nerfed" they were downgraded from godly to above-average DDs. They didn't fundamentally change the whole way the job plays. They still stand there and spam ranged attacks for lots of damage; they just stand farther away while doing it now. With BST, they basically completely changed for the worse how the job has to be played, and made it damn near impossible to level in the vast majority of the zones they once leveled. There's a huge difference, and it is one that seriously needs to be addressed. They could easily make it so that mobs that are brought out of their native area and then released wander slowly back to their native area without aggroing anyone until they get there, I think.
