Thank you SE I got my Joyeuse cause of this maint :) A maint worked to my advantage for the first time that is nice.
Why god?

God why is SE always doing maintenances? Can't we all just fix the problem totally?

God: Because of stupid users who try to bypass the system and cheat, and for other problems with jobs, and mobs. Also, nothing can be perfect remember that, well except me. ^_^

See boys and girls, ladies and gents? The reason we have most maintenances is because of you, the users. I myself have my list of complaints, but it has to do with the animations and how fortune turns against me, and wishing their was voices.
However users who try to cheat the game I blame most of these maintenances on you. Of course these don't bother me because they usually do this while I am in school.
OK SE, lol
# Jan 24 2006 at 10:36 AM Rating: Default
I much rather endure the short maintenances than the long half a day ones. SE tries to stay on top of the technical errors, but I would imagine that could be difficult. Knowing how to play the game is much different than being able to program it and run it. I'm not happy with all their approaches to resolving certain issues, but they are trying to satisfy the masses and not just me.

THFs sorry to hear about your difficulties. I'm just getting used to the changes in the BST lifestyle, lol. Good luck to everyone!!

G5 Issues

I believe the issue is not just for thiefs doing G5. There have been multiple complaints from people who fight Maat. All the complaints were the same: Maat's HP bar was empty, however he continued to fight, and subsequently pummel the contestant.

I saw this issue mostly on the Monk forum, but there were one or two other places I saw/heard of this as well, though I cannot remember where at the moment.

Here is the link: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=11;mid=113593095540021662;num=6;page=1

Did anyone else hear or see anything similar to this?

{Peace}

My brother, Elizabeta on the Ifrit server, had an odd experience with Maat, in that he basically handed the fight to him. He went in to the fight as a 69 thf. Did the usual buff stuff, put up RR. Went in, failed his steal, got his butt kicked all over and died. Reraise, rest for a min, then he attempted to steal again. Once more a fail, once more he got killed. 30 seconds after Maat had killed him, he's telling his friends on LS about it while he lies there dead, and suddenly, Maat says something along the lines of "Wow, you're just too tough for me" and there it was. G5 complete. Messed up. Maat's killed my RNG 6 times now >< prick.

This patch was an absolute necessary patch. When they performed the patch to counter the gilsellers stealing program "THEY BROKE THE THIEF GENKAI 5!!!".

In case you were un-aware that is the quest where thief fights maat to break the lvl 70 cap. In the quest if a thief successfully steals a scroll of instant-warp from maat she wins and limit is broke. After that patch thieves who successfully stole from maat DID NOT win and he beat the **** outta them and they died. Testimony lost and still lvl 70 cap. Yes that sucks.. BAD!

Please don't complain about maintenences because they are for our own good. How would you feel if your job got perma-capped at lvl 70???

Just a little over exaggerated perhaps. I have a couple of THF friends who chose to go toe to toe with the old man instead of using the Steal method. They said it was quite easy, and killed him on first try each.

This in contrast to other friends who went 0/5 on the Steal method. (This was about a month ago before any pathches were put in place)

Oh and you spelled "people" wrong in your signature.

You can still beat maat as a thf by stealing from him they didnt change that. What they changed was the THF's ability to steal from a mob take it out of its spawn radius, hide. Rinse and repeat. This was giving the THF the ability to farm stacks of gold beastcoins per se without taking a hit.

this is incorrect. While that issue was also resolved in the previous patch they did indeed break the thief genkai 5 with it. See my post a few posts above for full info.

I just wish they'd say what the resolution issues in question were, so we could all go "ohhhh, maybe that was a good idea to perform maintenance on!" instead of sitting here questioning.

chariot band
# Jan 23 2006 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
my actual question invovles the chariot band you get from the W.W.'s. It says it has a life of 90 minutes, but whenever i equip it the timer counts down from 15 seconds. why is this?
RE: chariot band
# Jan 23 2006 at 1:25 PM Rating: Decent
That is how long you must wait before the Ring is ready for you to use it.
RE: chariot band
# Jan 23 2006 at 1:23 PM Rating: Decent
Thats simple.

theres a delay between equipping item and the tiem at which you can click on it (it will turn blue) and is ready to use. Once you use it the effect will last for the lesser of 90 minutes or 500 experience at which time it wears off.

The US is behind GMT. Europe, Russia, and Asia are ahead of GMT.

09:00 PST should be 17:00 GMT as PST is 8 hours behind GMT

IBHalliwell - Check out the Microsoft Time Zone Index Values webpage for more information.

I'm sorry this is just funny. PST stands for Pacific Time, and GMT is Genral Mountian Time.
PST is the time on the west coast of the US, GMT is for the most part the middle of the US, and EST is Eastern Time. Pacific time is 3 hours behind EST time so 9am PST is 12pm(noon) Eastern time. Not really sure how you came up with 9am PST is 17:00(5pm) GMT....

Oh, well, learn something new every day. :)

I thought GMT was Greenwich Mean Time also known as Universal Coordinated Time.

As for the lower-48 USA states, maybe I'm wrong but I thought the time zones went:

EST/EDT: Eastern Standard/Daylight Time: 09:00
CST/CDT: Central Standard/Daylight Time: 08:00
MST/MDT: Mountain Standard/Daylight Time: 07:00
PST/PDT: Pacific Standard/Daylight Time: 06:00

When I lived in OH, FL, and NY, we used EST/EDT. When I living in TX, MN, and now IL, we're used CST/CDT. When I lived in CO, the time was MST/MDT and on visits to CA people told me to set my watch to PST/PDT.

During my multiple trips to England, I used either BST (British Summer Time) or GMT (depending upon the time of the year).

As for how I came up with 09:00 PST is 17:00 GMT is by counting the time zones between CA and London.

IBHalliwell - I'm still not sure where Genral Mountain Time is as the center of the USA uses two time zones -- CST/CDT and MST/MDT.

Yeah, that was pretty funny....

Actually, the correct abreviation for the area you called "General Mountain Time" is : Mountain STANDARD time.

East to west in the USA is EST, CST, MST (what the above poster called GMT), PST..... see the pattern there???? all US time zones end with Standard Time. Which is the ST.

GMT = Grennwich Mean Time. = London

Oh dear!

GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time (Greenwich in London England, not Greenwich village New York).

GMT, also known as UST (Universal Standard Time) is taken from the Prime Meridian (i.e. Latitude zero) and all other timezones are plus or minus GMT.
Genral (sic) Mountain Time is not universally recognised (only in the US of America).
