[System-related] The following functions have been added to the Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba reservation system: - Any block of time up to 2 days after the reservation date can now be reserved. - It is now possible to set participation requirements when making a reservation. - By selecting the “Recruiting Members” option during the reservation process, prospective participants will now receive a page of the Ballista Redbook from Tillecoe. In a previous update, damage taken during Conflict (PvP) by melee, ranged, and magic attacks was adjusted to an amount relatively lower than damage taken in regular battles with monsters. With this month’s version update, damage taken by techniques that hit multiple times has been adjusted in the same manner. This modification applies to job traits and weapon skills that allow the player to land consecutive hits (e.g., Double Attack, Triple Attack, Rampage). The distance detection for auto-attack will now function correctly for PCs who have been the target of “Provoke” in a Conflict match. Menu shading has been adjusted. The terms "Dynamis - Tavnazia" and "Abdhaljs Isle-Purgonorgo" have been added to the auto-translate function. The following restrictions have been placed on delivering gil: The maximum amount of money that can be sent at one time has now been set to 1 million gil. Gil can now only be placed in one of the 8 delivery slots. *No restrictions apply to receiving gil. A message describing the transaction will now be displayed when buying or selling items at a shop. The message that is displayed when buying a stackable item in multiple amounts from a guild has been changed from “You buy (number) (item name) from the shop” to “You buy (number) (item name) from the guild.” [Other Content] Further adjustments were made to compensate for the inconsistency in fishing difficulty experienced by different clients. In the case where a fish registered for Fish Ranking didn’t make the cutoff point, or was pushed out of the ranking by another registered fish, the NPC Chenon would respond to registration enquiries with “You currently have no entries registered for Fish Ranking.” This issue has now been corrected. [Windows Version] A “Pattern D” has been added to the FINAL FANTASY XI Gamepad Config program. FINAL FANTASY XI is now compatible with Intel Viiv technology. When using the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system, it is possible to start FINAL FANTASY XI from the shortcut located in the “More Programs” menu. *This does not guarantee that FINAL FANTASY XI will run on a Windows PC installed with Intel Viiv technology. [Xbox 360 Beta] The user interface has been increased in scale for HDTV displays. It is now possible to enter numbers from the numeric keypad when using a USB keyboard. The scheduled recipe change for “Tavnazian tacos” mentioned in the February 2nd, 2006 Topics (FINAL FANTASY XI official homepage) will now take place in a later version update.

Gil Limit
# Feb 22 2006 at 3:03 AM Rating: Decent
The only thing I have to say about the Gil sending Limit is that maybe it is an attempt for SE to pinpoint Gil Sellers, not necessarily inconvenience them, but make them easier to find. If they check the mailing history and see someone get 5, 10, or 20 1MIL gil sent messages from 5-20 different character accounts, it's gonna make the Gil Sellers and buyers pretty easy to point out. I heard about SE deleting 700+ accounts adding up to over 300BIL gil... maybe after this holiday season, SE is tired of letting Gil Sellers run their game. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping.

cap max amount of gil you can carry at a lower rate, tho i like the capping AH prices better, the game is for fun, the economy is too much like RL for it to be any fun. I mean its like Exxon Mobile screweing us all over again. All of the high ticket items should be rare/ex, and the ones that arent, around the 100k-1million range, should be sellable at AH at a maximum 1million. In the end, the people playing are the true ones to suffer, i know we've all had or have been that guy/girl who couldnt afford the huabby or erase, and so our pt's suffered, we suffered, for that. But don't you agree that its in SE best interest to make things cost more, higher price=longer time to attain, in turn 1 more month of saveing gil, another $13 in SE bank account.

As of 3 AM today ive defeated the 6 alliance avatar battles. Defeating these guys gets you a whole lot of NOTHING (just key item and a few clusters). There is a final battle at full moon fountain, which, i hear, is against 5 carbys. I hope to complete that battle soon and reap what awesome reward there is.

Cal, I don't know about all of them, but I know that one of the event item storage NPCs is in Port Jeuno and he's (I believe) next to the wall between the Bastok airship and the gate outside. Already gave him that beautiful orange gilet and trunks set.

When did they add the Special Event Storage NPC, and where are they? I knew about the armor one, and they were thinking about adding this one, but I didn't know they already did. Maybe this could clear out about half of my mog house. Thanks.

And I like the fact that they added a cap to the amount sent through the delivery service. I know it's going to hurt people who do send large amounts to their own mules and to help LS people get weapons and armor for leveling, but if it'll cut out a bit on the gilselling...

2 years playing this and I wish I've broken the million gil point..... man I need money...

BCNM/KS/Splits etc
easy to just trade in person, and that person can't lie and say they never had their gil sent.

Trade gil in person, i have to do that with dynamis currency to my mule /sigh

hmmm
# Feb 21 2006 at 8:30 AM Rating: Decent
so what if you cant trade more than one mil gil...

the gill sellers will simply sell 1 mil at a time

it changes nothing, if anything, gil will be so cheaply sold per mil that people will be more inclined to buy just one mil instead of five....

the price of things are gonna go down though for the following few weeks, i would suggest us sell all ur high gill stuff....before all the gil buyers run out of gil :)

does anyone know anything about these new avatar battles they said were added please let me know
/sigh arrow/bolthead stacks @.@

I thought this update was going to be killer!! Finally things like demon or armored arrow heads arent so bad for 100k a stack, WRONG!!! S/E is getting better, but how are you going to make arrow/boltheads still yeild 6 a synth yet stack to 99??? Now you cant even affoard a stack of heads just to make for exping!! Come on S/E if it stacks to 99 it should yeild 33 on a synth, this makes me feel like woodworking has its own gimpy version of tsurara.
SE doesn't approve of Mules?

Last year in the census, SE published something to the effect of not counting lvl 1 jobs because people use them as mules.

In effect, tye are approving of mules. If they acknowledge their presence, but don't condemn them, they are approving them. Further, they know which people have 5-10 xtra accounts (for which they are collection 5-10$ a month on), and this doesn't seem to bother them.

SE approves of mules. If they had a problem, they wouldn't allow them.

The good:

-Capping the amount of gil that can be sent out will make it more difficult for RMT companies to distribute their gil between multiple mules and multiple accounts. When SE bombed RMT activities by banning 800 accounts and deleting billions of gil, they basically knocked out the characters and the accounts with massive gil pools and long histories of making block transactions (1 mil, 5 mil, 10 mil, etc) with complete strangers by delivery box or otherwise.

-The obvious defense to this measure is to have storage accounts and chars that are only used internally and don't interact with the gaming public directly. These types of accounts are less prone to being uncovered by SE from their trading activities, so it is safer to keep inventory on characters in these accounts and minimize the amount of gil carried on the trading accounts.

-Capping the amount of gil that can be sent by the delivery box system will make it less convenient to move the gil between the storage accounts and the external trading accounts. So the next time SE gathers enough data on their external trading accounts to justify deleting them, they are more likely to delete substantial quantities of gil.

The Bad:

-Obviously this is a major inconvenience for people who trade high value items for gil.

-It will have little or no effect on actual RMT activities. {Gather together.} {Lower Jeuno} {San'doria South} {Bastok Market} {Windurst Woods} <pos> {Trade} {You can have this.}. Gilsellers and RMT companies are already in the game 24/7 making gil and conducting transactions. What is it to them to stick a gil mule in Lower Jeuno to make trades? Heck, it might even be faster than the delivery box because there's no hassles with what was formerly the 8 slot limit.

-Rumors of sting operations following the update are unfounded.... SE already knows all and sees all. Every delivery box transaction is recorded, and so is every trade. They use database searches to sift all the information, so I don't see how it makes any difference to SE if the RMT activities are done face to face or by the delivery box system.

The Ugly:

-Still no fix for the BST "Leave" JA. BST is my favorite job...come on SE...how hard is it to reprogram that JA? All ya have to do is make it so that the mob just walks back to its spawning area with its aggro functions disabled. The spawning areas for all mobs are obviously clearly defined already. Just turn the aggro back on when it gets back. Sheesh.

I think the 1 million is kinda small but I'm all for it! I've always played on Asura but what I've heard is it's one of the worst inflations. And already were seeing price drops! Go SE Go!

Also, as the leader of BastokanWarriors Ls, I would love to give my other char a sack.

Can't wait for TAU! Red/blue! Purple Mage! w00t!

Why not have a 1 Million limit on everything sold at AH or 5 mil tops cap it then 99.9% of people will not have to buy gil to afford anything they need or want.
You still have all the uber rare/ex god stuff to show off with and be proud of getting.
If there was a cap what would be the point in buying gil...

1-slot limit on sending gil is bad.
# Feb 20 2006 at 6:40 PM Rating: Decent
The new 1-slot limit on sending gil is terrible news for people who do BCNMs, garrisons, etc. regularly, selling drops on AH and splitting the proceeds. Now if I send a dividend to 1 player who doesn't log on for a week, I can't send dividends to anyone else until they pick up theirs. I imagine the 7-slot limit already constrains "gil sellers" significantly; and gil buyers are presumably ready to pick up their bought gil much quicker. I think this is going to inconvenience far more legitimate players than RMT offenders. Please, SE, find another way.

What is up with most of the posts here. Everyone assuming that this delivery box change is the second coming of Jesus Christ in terms of knocking out gilsellers.

Listen, people. This hardly changes anything. Speaking from the experience of seeing how RMT groups work in other MMORPG games such as EverQuest 2, RMTers sometimes don't even use delivery services. In fact they never use them at all in games such as EQ2.

Gilseller names already pop up as to who sent someone gil when they send via delivery boxes, so the claim that "Now we can bust them in person and see their names!" doesn't hold water. As it stands, you already see the name via the delivery box regardless of who is sending you something.

The only real change that'll happen is RMTers will now request people stay inside of a main city to link up with a gil mule, so they can initiate direct trades. It's no different from delivery box gil, save for the face-to-face interaction.

Hmm this still implies a couple of things...

GS will have to pay someone to stand all day long in jeuno with a gil mule, someone they pay, making prices go up and (hopefully) less people buying gil.

Another question that comes to mind is how will GS place gil on the mule ? direct trade ? more hardware and more accounts needed then.

RMTers already have a variety of people in their RMT Corp. that are capable of signing on to gil mule accounts at any time. RMTers also know when and when not certain monsters have the chance to spawn when they are camping, so it's just a matter of knowing which RMTer to ask to sign out for just a few minutes to give gil to someone who bought it, then getting back on the farming account.

Most of these RMT groups have a wide variety of computers, and their mules tend not to be on farmer accounts as well. It's an easy matter of meeting up with a gil mule while peddling wares at the AH between farming excursions, giving them a lump amount of made gil, then going on their way. If a lowly college student like me is capable of owning two FFXI-capable computers, so is an RMT group like IGE.

Cool update...I'm just wondering when/if SE is ever going to consider creating a 'quiver' or 'ninjutsu bag' type item for bullets.

IDK about other rng's out there, but to me, having to carry multiple stacks of bullets at a time just isn't worth the inventory space sacrifice.
Thank you SE ^_^

<(^.^)> There are several things i would like to point out.

- Time = Money. The gil sellers now have to spend lots of time doing tedious runs to different NPCs or log in - log out repeatedly. Of course the easy way to counter this is to buy mutiple accounts or flood J - Town with LVL 1 gil mules. With a ******** of /trade -ing going on all i can say is this.
{Sting} {Do you need it?}

-I am Downloading the version update...
WHILE MAINTENANCE IS UNDERWAY!

/clap {Thank you} SE, I NEVER thought that would happen. Now remake FF7!
(Anyone else see that FF7 PS3 Tech. Demo? That's just wrong to torture us like that.)

- {Dynamis - Tavnazia} Kills all other dynamis for 3 days? I like the way SE keeps people from flooding into the new content, unlike other MMO's (*cough* WoW)

<edit:> (Blizzard keeps people from getting through their new "instances" by making them so buggy you can't complete them for a few weeks + locking people out of their accounts when the game crashes XD.)

ok, i know we all have mules, but mules are one of the things that SE allows but doesnt specifically approve of (can't remember where i read this, i think in the instruction manual).

So anyway, any nerf that affects mules is gonna mean very little to SE, but it is nice that they are nerfing gilseller capabilities - and also, sending taht much gil between mules wont be too hard since u can send one mil, receive on mil, and keep doing that until u have what u need - it doesnt take that long... even though it might get annoying

The funny thing is, we're allowed to have so many characters, but unlike other MMOs, one character can play any of the jobs and switch back and forth, so there's no need to have more than one character except to have a different name/race to try out.

This means one character has so little room with which to actually /play/ the other jobs, have gear for Ballista, promyvion, BCNM, fishing, mining, chocobo riding, HQ gear, AF weapons, crafting materials, etc. etc. etc. (*breathes*) We have so little room.

That being said, what are those other slots for? ;3 Whether they don't specifically approve of the use of mules or not, whether they value the extra $1.00 they get per character, they've sort of forced players to need mules. Admittedly they shouldn't have to make allowances for sending money back and forth or linkpearl control (again, between mule/main), but as far as pure storage survival goes, it's just impossible to get by without them. And that's not our fault. X3
