Developer's Comments on Chocobo Raising

Developer's Comment: The chocobo raising feature is finally taking shape! I can see a chocobo on my screen right now, growing rapidly from day to day. It seems we can finally fulfill the promises we made to everyone about this new feature! Soon we should also be able to provide screenshots and give even more detailed information about chocobo raising. We are hard at work creating a system in which players can enjoy competing their chocobos against each other--for example, to see which is the fastest... We hope you enjoy this new feature and all the interesting possibilities it brings. We wish you all the best of luck in Vana'diel! ------ Feel free to discuss Chocobo Raising here!

I figure they will set it up as first you go to the main breeding place in Aht Urgahn and they give a choice of going out into one of the new area's and find a wild egg which may produce one of the better breeds. Or they will sell you a basic one for a fee...more than likely in imperial currency. Prolly further investment involved in the raising process as well.

Once you have a fully grown bird it'll be home pointed to a stable and you can pick it up like a rent a bird if you ditch the bird in the field it goes back to it HP and they will prolly add an NPC to all the city stables that will allow you to transfer your bird to that stable for a fee.

Of course thats just how I hope it'll work :-/

I don't think this will take forever to do. def not something like a full year. maybe a week at the most. maybe the longer it grows the better a chance it will be to be a rare type or someting.

It'll be the accelerated game time. I don't know if it will be a week... possibly a month for a full grown chocobo. We'll see I guess ^^ I'm very excited.

I and many others,i think, are grateful for the
chocobo breeding to finally come around!(-.^)b

It beats da hell outts paying rent for a chocobo
you gonna use for 10 minutes.I know,i know you say it's not much but do you remember the prices in Tahrongi Canyon?>>>3000 gil+??

We can all keep our hard earned gil and spend it on crafting or maybe feed the chocobo to keep him HAPPY!?
Who cares if we have to raise a chocobo for a couple months;even casual players can enjoy raising one.All it may take is a few trips to the stables...but to have your very own chocobo!?
And SE did mention about raising, breeding, and even having them race to see which is fastest!
Not to mention that we may come across a rare breed of chocobos...Yeah it would be nice to see different colors on our feathery friends wouldn't it!?
The only thing i'm worried about is the actual
quest>>>are they gonna make it uber hard to get or everyone gets to crack at this one!?
Either way,it's a nice addition to see that SE has brought upon us and we'll gladly take it with open arms...notihng like betting or racing your own chocobo at the race tracks while waiting for a party invite on those slow nights!
Rate up SE!nice job....some of your ideas aren't
as wise[capping crafts...(_ _),but i honestly think this one will pan out!!

somehow, I highly doubt that chocobo breeding and raising will be a way to keep your "hard earned gil". Knowing S-E, it's going to cost you dearly to have your own chocobo, just like the new storage facilities in Aht Urhgan - not exactly open to noobs.

S-E doesn't exactly have a great track record on that sort of thing.

rant/

whom gives a flying phukabo about a choco of your own, unless of course you can use your choco calling earring...

...Gandalf/Shadowfax style...and whistle up a ride whilst out on the field somewhere.

otherwise, FIX THE REAL PHUREEKIN PROBLEMS,

like no good stuff for casuals...

like gil sellers and campers...

like lame gruddamn grinding up through the levels, repeating the same crap on the same critter 200 times... (I don't need a replication of the CRAP parts of life in my game time ! )

like the total and utter dependence on stupid selfish, non-team playing noobs which fill every party I join...

(EVERYONE should be able to do a cubic buttload more, ON THEIR OWN. Parties should be about mutual assistance, camraderie, and gods forbid, actually selflessly helping someone else, yes indeed, BUT NOT ALL THE GRUDAMN TIME !)

hints? a bit more please?
# Jun 03 2006 at 9:56 AM Rating: Decent
how about dropping a few more hints as to what will be required for players to actually partake of this activity?

will it be necessary to cross a level 75-only area? fight a level 110 NM mob with an alliance of level 75s in uber gear? wait a whole real life year? give away our moogle's first born? (well, that last one I could care less about)

Will it cost an imperial gold coin a week to keep and feed your chocobo? thus making it totally impossible for anyone not VERY actively playing ToAU?

I don't see anything wrong with wondering just how high the level requirements will be for chocobo breeding before getting all excited about it.

I think there are a couple of other posts on this thread that merited the "jackass" moniker considerably more than this person's post. I agree with him or her. I'd also rather know what the requirements will be rather than just have my appetite wetted by hints and tidbits.
