2007 Premier Site Summit Write-ups

Our apologies for taking so long with these, but there was just so much information to remember. Hopefully between the two of us we've covered everything that was discussed in detail at the summit. We would like to say to Square Enix and the Community Relations team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your wonderful hospitality and information. We're certain that this summit, having opened up a more personal and friendly relationship, was a great success and a very meaningful step in the right direction for both the community and the game.

We had a great time and it was a lot of fun to get to know other people from the other Premier sites. Pictures are available in my write-up.

"No Macintosh support."

Why thank you. Your decision that I had to either buy a PC just for FFXI or spend the rest of my main character's life on a PS2 was so [censored] kind of you, SE.

If not for the fact that World of Warcraft is hideously unappealing (although running on Mac OS X) I might have been swayed to drop FFXI for it.

Please reconsider this slap in the face of the Macintosh population. Mac Play (a company that ports PC games to Macintosh) will tell you that there is a viable market. Perhaps you could drop them a line and get an estimate on the port?

In the meantime, PS2 is better that the "fun" I see my Windows brethren go through with things like anti-virus disconnects and inexplicable lagging that has to be resolved with a reboot.
Hooray!

Thanks a lot, both of you.

It's just too bad we didn't find out anything about the new MMO...
Wonderful Information!

Really great write ups, and lots of good information!

Its completely understandable how RMT was not brought up. Its been said over and over, and SE is actually doing something about it. We see them trying, and thats all we need.

Was anything about Dynamis/AFv2 mentioned at all? I know in regards to drop rates/accessibility its another hot topic since theres usually about 10 Linkshells all bickering and fighting over who gets a dynamis zone and during what time.

I did let out a chuckle at the comment about feezing your *** off.... there's palm trees in the background..how cold can it be? Its currently 18 degrees out and I'm to cold to feel sympathetic :P This tarutaru runs buck naked through snow banks.

No RMT discussion?

I'm sure the vast majority of us greatly appreciate the time you both spent relaying our wants and concerns with the SE staff (thank you, btw), but...

RMT wasn't discussed? /sigh /cry /sob /wail

Yes it does seem to be a deadhorse since RMT crafters and mining and choco digging bots are rarely ever banned, and some fish bots only get banned every month or two. But some kind of word from SE such as "we are actively working on better solutions and will have an update for you within this quarter" would have been nice and would have left us with a miniscule glimmer of hope. I suppose the RMT problems players are facing might not be a primary concern for SE, which is very unfortunate. I'd even venture to say it will cost them customers (*raises hand*) when they roll out their next online game.

"We all had insane gear, fully upgraded relic weapons"

Did you you guys remember to check what sword/gear the Blu was wearing?
Thank you

Aye!

Thanks for posting these write-ups! Things like this show that there are humans on the other side of things, who can often be as frustrated as we are and are trying to help us enjoy our time in Vana'diel.

You guys let the community down by not mentioning Ulli.

An amazing article. Seems like you both had great fun there and brought back some interesting information. It's always nice to see how things work at SE and gives the community a good chance to see that they do work with us instead of against us (although some will disagree).

Thanks for a great pair of posts guys, wonderfully detailed... Though I can't help but wonder if there's anything that's been left out due to confidentiality etc... (the pit in whitegate?).

Lfp on multiple jobs sounds nice... very nice. But only if it becomes reality.

No Mac Support BAH! Ah well, I feel like the only one in the world that would care anyway -_-

Great Write-Ups, though, both of you. Sounds like you had a lot of fun, and lots of info was passed around. Hopefully we'll see many, many changes for the better!

Well now that we have official word on the future of FFXI I hope we will begin seeing people nuked for posting the random "FFXI is dying" thread. Those flame wars are starting to get old fast.

I mean at least the RMT threads are still amusing even if they are dead horse topics.
Thank You
