What the hell.... Since when did Confucious jump on the discussion boards? Blizzard kicks *** and they always have. I can guarantee you that you will not have to download 5 different patches as soon as you load up the game. That goes for WoW, Warcraft 3, and any other game that Blizzard produces. I personally can not wait for WoW to come out, I have already decided to set aside a couple of weeks for just gaming and will not play another game until then(unless it is War3).

Blizzard has never made a bad game. They are known for great gameplay, and actually being able go play their games. EQ2 will require very up tp date computers. WoW will not, but it will still look great. To me, its more important to be able to play a game than it is for it to look great. Hell, starcraft? Diablo 2? They are not very advanced for the times they game out, but people STILL play both.

Blizzard delays game b/c they aren't ready. They odn't put it out there, then patch it in a month. And, they add new things and make it smoother. WoW is going to be great.

Yep, Blizzard always tests their game thoroughly before releasing them, unlike most other companies.

OSI released UO while its network code wasn't even able to support a real server. Lag was ridiculous.

Sony released EQ with a network code unable to support a real server. Their were so many exploits (dupes, glitches, bugs and what not) in EQ after release that it was a nightmare. Lag was ridiculous. Their are still tons of bugs that cause this game to crash to desktop.

Bioware released Neverwinter Nights before it was even tested. This game had more bugs in it on release than most other games ever have.

Now let's look at Blizzard's track record:
Diablo 1&2 were patched because cheaters were reaching a high. They changed the way the game read the files so that the current trainers wouldn't function anymore. The trainers came out with updates, but it took them about a month.

Warcraft 2 - I never had to patch this game and I have never crashed out once.

Warcraft 1 - Read the above for Warcraft 2

Starcraft - Read the above for Warcraft 2 & Diablo 1&2

Blizzard's track record is one of the best around because they spend time programming and making high quality software. If Blizzard's previous track record is any indication of what WoW will be like, EQ will bite the dust.

I checked Gamestop.com recently to see what they said WoW's release date was. It was January of 2004, so it will probably be at least 3 more years, we know how Blizzard usually pushes their games back a year or two later than expected.
    Looks Great

First of all I think the graphics of this game look great because its actually colorful...the games I have senn recently have had many colors but it just didn't look colorfl at all which is a big no no. As far as graphics compared to EQ2 there not as real but still good. EQ2 has more of a realistic graphic thing goin on and WoW has a cortoonish kinda look which is pretty cool. Plus it is said that it is going to be more fast past then other online games like EQ. THANK GOD! I'm sick of sitting in the same place in Eq fighting the same thing and only having to click on attack and wait for the damn thing to die! So I'm gonna get this and throw eq in the garbage...as far as EQ2 graphics look great but doesn't look like fun...I really have no idea why I feel that way.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 01 2002 at 12:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WoW is never gonna be released, like all of blizzards games, I hope you all can wait 3 years. Not to mention that WoW is simply the original verison of what WC3 was gonna be, but they forked WC3 so they could make money by making a MMORPG. The graphics look maybe luclin, which really won't be good in 3 years when its actually released. I'm sorry but blizzard always dissapoints me. I mean, we've been waiting 7 years for a sequal to WC2, one of the best games ever! And Warcraft Adventures never got released, don't put too much faith in Blizzard.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 01 2002 at 2:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) To bad you are sadly wrong about WC3 being trashed because you are absolutly wrong.. and if you don't believe me look around yourself the beta is already out and being tested. and yes wc3 owns!

K....i do not know much about WarCraft but i always thought it wa s agame where you went and built an army and conguered nations...if i am wrong than I am sorry...the graphics on this are similar to EQ now and since i have not read or heard anything about this particular game i can not tel you much but from the screen shots I see here it looks like other than Grpahics this might just be the competition that Sony needs....agian this is just my opinion from what i see here...

WoW is gonna be run by Blizzard. Blizzard is responsible for some of the best games I've ever played such as the Warcraft series and Diablo. Also they don't have their head up their **** like a certain company... I've read a bit on it, it'll be better the EQ2 for sure, unless you want great graphics and a rather bad attempt to make an old dead horse still beatable. Long before I ever heard of eq2 this game had me drooling. It'll be well done and well taken care of.

bahh blizzards always been second best on any products they come out with...

    star/war craft:
Westwood always kicked their asses with the command and conquer games (specially red alert 2)

    Diablo 1&2:
I havent really found anything comparable but the stories werent too long or too great.. and hackers on MP sorta ruined that.

    Warcraft 3:
Come close to eq in customers and game play value... RIGHT!
    RE: WoW
    # Jul 02 2002 at 7:19 AM Rating: Default
Your post is EXTREMELY irrelevant. Why? The things you state are either opinions or unresearched facts.

    Warcraft 2:
Red Alert 2's original program didn't sell near as many copies as the original Warcraft 2.

    Diablo 1&2:
They weren't meant to have stories, they are called Hack & Slash games. The randomized dungeon thing was meant to bring people back and it worked.

    Warcraft 3:
Comes close to EQ in customer database? Not quite. After all, EQ has a customer database of 400,000 and Warcraft 3 has already sold 2.8 million copies. EQ will make more money in the end with their monthly fee.

    Gameplay Values:
Everquest - Hack & Slash MMORPG with no storyline whatsoever. No custom content unless you hack the texture files. No new stuff besides expensive expansions. Repetitive actions that require very little strategy because despite a good plan you come up with, you still can't beat certain parts of the game unless 50 other people are with you.

Warcraft 3 - Real Time Strategy with a known storyline. Custom content being created endlessly. New stuff provided almost daily from players. Requires strategy to beat your opponent and doesn't require 50 other people to come with you to win a battle.

looking forward to more M.U.D's or MMORPG's as some may call them. Blizzard makes good games, will be interesting to play world of warcraft when it comes out.At least they can look at everquest to see what not to do...

Judging from how long it took them to release Diablo 2...

WoW will be the perfect game. The content will be perfect, the balance will be perfect. Unfortunately it won't come out until Blizzard finish beta testing it 3 times with the entire poplulation Korea 10 years from now.

    At least it'll be perfect.

I never got into the Warcraft games, not being my cup of tea, but these screenshots look real nice. Not as hard on the eyes as Hibernia in DAoC was. May have to watch how this develops.

looks like a "slightly" souped up and cartoony EQ or DAOC...

    # May 31 2002 at 1:38 AM Rating: Default
I'm friggin tired of everyone comparing every other game to EQ or DAoC, how the hell does this even remotely resemble them?! Thats like saying an ape looks like a rather large spider monkey or a cameleon looks like a toned down T-Rex

    Think outside the box, please

    jeeze!
    RE: hmmmm....
    # May 31 2002 at 3:13 AM Rating: Decent
almost all mmorpgs are compared to EQ and DAoC because both have become the benchmarks for their respective sides of the pvp/pve debate. this game is remotely similar to eq and daoc in the same way that all 1st person shooters or flight sims or whatever you play are similar. they are in the same category because the general gameplay and objectives are not much different.

and thinking outside the box eliminates the ideas that are inside the box, thereby limiting your thought process and causing the very problem it was designed to prevent. forget the box just think.
    RE: hmmmm....
    # May 31 2002 at 1:37 PM Rating: Default
I disagree about thinking outside/inside the box, if you think inside the box you are limited to ideas inside of it, however if you think outside the box you remove yourself from the ideas inside the box limiting yourself once again. To truly think creatively you must break through the box, allowing yourself to be open to all ideas.

    # Jun 01 2002 at 12:15 AM Rating: Default
OK, that was really dumb. That isn't what they mean by thinking outside the box. STFU please.

To think outside the box just means don't limit your mind to what you already know. It does NOT mean to ignore what you already know, it means to open your mind up to what hasn't already been tried... why the hell am I bothering to explain this to you?!

    Just STFU.

I very much resent being told to stfu...I was simply stating my opinion on the philosophy of "the box". It was more of a joke than something to be taken serious anyway. I apologize if I made you feel inferior or offended you in any way.

    # Jun 01 2002 at 3:20 AM Rating: Default
Ok...now we now what inside/outside/breakthrough the box means....but something I want to know is if yuo think outside the box than why is your small mind limited to tell someone to STFU when they are expressing thier opinion??....that to me seems to fall inside the box cause you are unwilling to hear a different opinion and you think only yours is correct...but than agian i could be wrong and i could be the one with the marrowly small mind but in this world you can never tell
