Mythic's New MMORPG

I couldn't answer any of the questions popping in your mind better than Mark, so here ya go! With the announcement of Imperator a few questions immediately leap to mind. What effect does Imperator have on Camelot and what is the future of DAoC? Folks, With the announcement of our beginning development on Imperator, there have been a lot of legitimate questions, suggestions and concerns about the game and our current MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot. Generally all of these boil down to the following single question: What impact will Imperator have on Dark Age of Camelot. I’ll answer that question without any fluff, no marketing spin, no best face, etc. The answer is simply: None! Having said that, I’ll now go into a bit of detail as to why as well as what are immediate plans for Imperator. First, everyone at Mythic, other than myself are focused 100% on DAoC. Our commitment to Shrouded Isles as well as the non-expansion areas remains total. The initial phase of the creation of Imperator involves a lot of research, conversations and design work over the next six months. No one will be pulled off DAoC or Shrouded Isles until the expansion pack is released, stable and complete. Second, even after Imperator goes into full production it is still our intent to keep a full team working on DAoC. Mythic will be hiring additional personnel (we are already looking for new offices) to either be part of the Imperator team or to replace team members from DAoC who are moving on to Imperator. We have made the commitment to our players to continue to support DAoC and even though we can never please everyone, we have continued to put a huge effort into both the game and the expansion pack. Mythic continues to add new personnel each month and every one of them has gone to work on DAoC. Third, unlike any other game that we have done before, including DAoC, we have no set time limit for Imperator. We are going to spend more time designing the game before it goes into full production than we have with any other product. We will make Imperator a revolutionary game and we realize that it will take time and money. While I’m sure that there will be those who will gainsay us and mock our attempt to create such a product, I’ll say the same thing I did when we started work on DAoC, time will tell. It is 2 ½ years since we first began work on DAoC and the results speak for themselves. We continue to work to make a great game even better and we will continue to do so for a very long time to go.
