Mana Preservation II is not cumlative. So if you have 2 batskull earrings, you only get 10% mana reduction, not 20%.

Ok I have finished with my own testing and I have come up with a slightly different version of things. Not sure why but I did it 3 times and it came up the same all three times. I did this to prove my true loathing of gnolls, and finally completed this today. It feels great to own a rare weapon of no real nessesity. It is a challenge to do this quest and it takes patience. Good luck to all who attempt it.
