As a person who's played a high level druid, I'd use this weapon for the resists. The 9 wisdom you can get from a Paw is only 90 mana, and chances are, you won't need that mana in the raids where resists and HP are all that count.

You don't NEED to get those stones. They are only required for finishing the quest.
Combining the hammer and the faded or crystallized shadow weapon/armor is a step in the process earlier on in the quest before the spiritling stone part. |

I would have to guess another expansion, myself. Possibly one involving the aviaks? Perhaps another continent of mostly rough, mountainous terrain, with a few plateaus for cities?
