Being Camped UponFollow

I usually static with 3 other friends in a 4xblu party.

We were xping in Quicksands Cavern for about a hour before another party appears.

This is located near the entrance where Sagittarius X-XIII spawns; and consequentially, can only realistically hold one party unless you want to squabble over mobs and receive awful xp.

I saw the other party arrive, but I was flabergasted when they set their camp right in front of ours.

In disgust, we ended our party and decided to logout for the night.

I would like to note and thank the following toons for their ummm ... courtesy:

Linl drk47/nin23 Hum rnk8
Morgan whm46/blm23 Hum rnk5
Shelis brd47/whm23 Elv rnk10
Tairer nin46/war23 Hum rnk10
Tosiyuki blu47/thf23 Elv rnk9
Xsion rdm47/blm23 Mit rnk9

I hope in the future, other parties may show them the same courtesy.

I see from your sig that you're a BST75 too, and you still aren't used to people who don't give a **** about others and camp on top of you? :P

When a party wants some exp, they couldn't care less on who's already leveling there. It's common belief that full regular party > solo/duo/trio.

When that happens, bear with it and change camp or come back later, 'cause there is NO way they'll see your point and let you keep your camp.

As a solo bst 1-67, while it was still frustrating to be camped upon, it wasn't difficult for me to move camps and continue to xp.

Unfortunately, in my 4xblu static party, we usually only xp for about 1-1.5 hours per session for the dedication effect to be completed since we have one static member who works late shift and the rest of us need to wake up relatively early in the morning.

/shrug, while we weren't happy about being camped upon, ffxi isn't worth getting majorly stressed out about....that is what real life is for...unless I can win the jackpot for the darn lottery.

It doesn't seem to be worth the aggravation.

My blu static party only has about a two hour window to xp 8pm->10pm est. One member needs to log at 10pm and head to work, while 2 members usually log on around 7:30-8pm (the earliest they can log on after coming home from work etc.).

Moving to another camp during the middle of an xp session will effectively end the session for us. By the time we get to another xp camp, we are going to have to disband for a member to go to work.

I guess our other option is to find a more isolated xp location, I'm going to scout out B. Oubliette.

I admire you for logging for the night rather than do what so many do and go switch to another job and come back and try to kill them. It is really a pity that so many people are jerks and will steal your camp, but we know there are many who do this. Setting up right in front of you is pretty low though. They will get their just deserves sooner or later.

A great Linkshell leader I knew, once stated to a party that came and camped on top of his "If you camp on top of me I will leave and come back and kill every mob in the area".- words to live by.

If a camp can handle "only one party", you'd better be strong enough to take all the mobs on at once. Or at least take so many that the other people won't want to bother staying there.

If you weren't doing that, then sorry, it can handle more than one party.

Not everyone has your standards.

We killed the beetles and the anticans and were waiting for respawns. So I think we were killng them at a pretty good pace. The other party linked Sagittarius X-XIII to an ant they were fighting.

We decided to halt our pulling and let them fight the nm link without any distractions.

We could have kept on pulling and since they were slowly encrouching towards us, their backrow toons would have gotten hit with Ant aoe silence which would have made things more difficult for them.

Since we were higher level than the other party, we could have pulled on mass and slept the mobs near us. Each of us have sophoric and sheep song equipped, so we have 8 available sleepgas.

But at the end of the day, that wouldn't have been fun. We accept the lower xp rate because we enjoy spending time with each other and having fun is more important than super duper high xp.

While some players may decide it is okay to camp on top of others, we decided to quit our session to avoid conflict. We easily could have come back as higher level toons and decimate the area...but why bother? In a few days, the people who camped on top of us will most likely be 10 levels higher than us; and consequentially, we will hopefully not be in the same level range anymore.

I think it really comes down to the hare vs. the tortoise. My static party xps at a slow rate like the tortise, but we enjoy our gaming experience and spending time with each other. I hope the people who are akin to the hare can say the same.

We could have blastbombed some mobs around the other party when they were fighting the nm. A dead party won't be able to pull against anyone.

But why bother?
