Where's the best place to look for these?

I'd like to get my Weather-Beaten Journal, but my memory is failing me. It has been some time since I have done any serious fishing, and I thought I would get my fishing up to do those easy Daily fishing quests, and figured that the Journal would be helpful.

I remembered the Debris spawning at the Decrepit Ferry in Silverpine fairly often, but I went there today and fished there for half an hour and saw three Sagefish Schools and not a single debris spawn...

Any other suggestions?

The best place is around pumps in Zangarmarsh. However if you can't go there the coast of Ratchet and western STV are a good bet.

Edit: Ooo just looked at El's Extreme Anglin' site and there's a range of fishing quests. I've only ever seen the Crocolisk one so far.

You don't need very high fishing for the one by the lake outside shattrath (is there more than one fishing daily?) I think you just need 1 to pick the quest up, and you fish in SW or Org (maybe, didn't pay attention to horde loc) so don't need high fishing for there.

Best part, I got the weather beaten journal in the reward bag for one of my characters. No idea how rare that is though.

The fishing daily appears to be random; it sent me to Zangarmarsh and there's no way I can fish in Zangarmarsh with a skill of 270.. I suspect I need 320+...

I suggest fishing the oil spills in Windshear Crag in Stonetalon if your fishing isn't very high--there's many of them, and little competition, and they yield crates that can contain the fish tracking book.

I fished up and down the coast of Tanaris to get my Weather-Beaten Journal when that patch came out.

If you're able to fish there (and keep the giants at bay) you'll also make decent gold in the interim.

The highest concentration of fish pools I have come across is the Forgotten Coast in Feralas. It takes some care though because of the water elementals and elite giants, but if you combine it with the quests to kill both of these mobs, then it is great.

Other toons have had success finding the journal on the coast of Desolace.

The onyl downside to these fishing spots is that they are far from anywhere whe your bags are full.

That's where I got mine - there is a high concentration of spills and no one ever fishes there.

As Alliance, my main got hers in Tanaris.

Horde-side, I got mine from the first floating debris pool I fished in STV - landed at Grom'Gol and just headed north along the beach.

I've got 3 journals from fishing along Darkshore coast, both south and north of Auberdine. A few floating wreckage pools and lots of oily which also yield crates.

The journal seems to be available from any wreckage pool, no mater the level. Like others, my main fishing characters looted theirs from the waters around Stranglethorn.

And I can second the journal appearing as part of the loot from the daily fishing quest. One of my hunters hadn’t gotten his yet. So I was very happy to see it appear in his reward bag a couple of days ago.

I got mine from an Mithril Trunk last night just north of Booty Bay. It was in the first trunk I opened.

If I recall correctly, the journal can drop from any crate you pull up while fishing, and you can find crates in any school of fish. So the best place to farm it would be any place you can find a bunch of easily fishable pools, I suppose.

You can actually - my hunter has 248 skill and fished the Zanga daily - get yourself some Aquadynamic Fish Attractors, or use the Fish Hooks that are a regular daily fishing quest reward, for the +fishing buff on your fishing pole.

Also, if you're horde and you missed out Hinterlands while levelling up, nip back and get this quest: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=7815
for a nice new fishing pole.
