enchanting drops (rant)Follow

Okay. I'm getting sick and tired of all the best enchants having a >1% drop rate off of a mob that has 3 spawns in a freaking 5-man instance. ESPECIALLY the really good physical DPS enchants! I took up enchanting to...um... ENCHANT my gear! But they are so rare that you're the luckiest freaking person in the world if you can not only FIND a group to run the instances these things drop in, but GET THEM!

I've been trying to solo farm +12 Agility to boots from Auch Crypts since I got epics. I can never find a group for normal crypts, and no one ever seems to want to run heroic unless it's the daily, and I've never seen it as the daily.

Eredar Deathbringers in Arcatraz drop +35 agility to 2h weapon. Only 1-2 spawns, and they can't be solo'd- at least not by a hunter in T4/T5 mix armor.

Savagery is another hot-in-demand enchant that just *won't* drop off of the Centurions in Shattered Halls. There are FOUR of them that spawn.

Surefooted? Phantom Stagehand in Kara. I get to try once a week to kill a small handful of them.

But are there ANY epic enchanting drops from any of the 25-man instances? NO! My guild has half a dozen patterns for Red Havoc boots that won't sell... But blizzard didn't want to put in a few epic enchants.

God damnit. I've had more luck with MONGOOSE than I have had with trying to find groups for these freaking 5-man instances.

edit: I'm also sick of seeing all of the other "trash mob" crafting drops. I swear, every time I run a 5-man I see someone saying "anyone else a leatherworker? No? sweet"

I suggest trying to get a guild run through it, the enchants that drop will benefit both you and the guild so if you can talk them into it it will be much easier then pugging through it.

While I agree with the annoyance of the drop-rate and location of mobs (helped a guildy farm Dexterity in Heroic Crypts for weeks), I was under the impression that the drop-rates were actually significantly more than 1%, but because they only drop with an enchanter present, the statistics were skewed.

It's higher than 1% but it's still very low. Like others, I can't even count the number of times my enchanter has been through SH and arc and I have yet to see either of those formulas drop.

I have seen the enchant drop in SH 4 time but every time there was another enchanter that out rolled me it is really getting old. Now the only was I think I can get any of the enchants for this toon is to get a holy set and respec from ret to holy so I can get to more groups.

Somehow that just seems so unfair.

Grr..

At the OP- I've been pretty unlucky on enchant drops as well. I just gave up on the idea of having every enchant in the game.

35 agility dropped once- I got outrolled by a sub-300 level enchanter. I was pretty mad, mad enough to leave group but I just stayed, put the guy on ignore and logged after the run. The guy couldn't even disenchant boss drops, but he rolled need on the formula and I lost.

70 warlock enchanter, 70 mage enchanter. Both exalted with kara, no mongoose, sunfire, soulfrost or surefooted on either of them =/

Only dungeon enchants I have are 12 stam bracers (warlock), executioner (warlock), 12 stam boots (mage), 12 defense cloak (mage).

Oh and don't get me started on 15 spell damage to bracers (specific ogres in Blades Edge, ugh..)

I had Savagery drop twice in one pull during a SH run one time; two guild enchanters were present to get it. I've also had Soulfrost drop for both of our groups in the same night in Karazhan (you should've heard the vent channel when both groups linked that one in Guild chat).

That is some fairly impressive luck right there.

I'm the enchanter for my guild and each time I do kara on my uncles pally, mongoose drops with no enchanter in the group, has never dropped while I'm on my warlock and I've been through karazhan almost every week for 2 months. [unhappy face]

I tend to have most luck when I'm not actually farming things.

My enchanter got Savagery (1st SH run), Surefooted (3rd Kara), 12 stam on something (4-5 SV), 12 agi on boots (5-6 runs I think, when it dropped I'd switched my enchanter in for my alt that needed the instance) and Vitality in a nice group that let me need it.

I farmed for Crusader for hours and never got it, 6 mobs in a tower, with a hunter, before they removed the dead zone. In the end I bought it.

My enchanter is an alt though, so I guess I'm lucky that she has so many instance drops, as I don't get much of a chance to play her.

That shouldn't work since the recipe should only show up if there is an enchanter in the group.

I ran a H Arc to get the +35 AGI enchant. Finally one dropped.

But wait, there's another enchanter. Phew! I outroll him.

He was super-pissed...until the next pull, when another one dropped. 2 Pulls in a row with the +35 AGI enchant. 0.o

Just a small exploit (If you can even call it that) to get Savagery, made even easier as a Hunter.

If you can find a group that doesn't clear the Gladiators (Most don't, seeing as they're optional pulls), you can kite them down.

Kill ONLY the gladiator and then feign death. The other mobs will reset, and the Gladiator will respawn. Check the corpse and if it hasn't dropped continue the slaughter.

Good luck!

Pretty sure there is only one mob in Arc that drops the enchant.

I had this exact same thing happen in SV with the Fortitude enchant and the last 2 pulls that it could drop on.

Go roll a jewelcrafter and then complain about how hard it is to get recipes. Atleast enchanters have mobs that specifically drop an enchant. JC's have to rely on the AH and random world BOE recipe drops just so they can cut their gems. Go search up the blue recipes on the AH, you're looking at thousands and thousands of gold needed to even get all of the blue gem recipes, not counting epic recipes and other things you can make.

I think it would be great to see discovery in more of the other professions besides alchemy.

Some of the alchemy transmutes I thought I'd never see are now available to me simply because I make alot of primal mights and had a string of discoveries. This would just make sense for other professions as well.

I simply love professions and hate instance/rep grinding and prefer to PVP instead with my time. Discoveries would balance the other professions out for a player like myself. I'd still have to buy mats off the AH from the people who instance/grind so they'd still see their gold profits either way.

I'm a Jewelcrafter/Enchanter. I'd much rather have the reliability of being able to buy recipes that are only semi-rare on the AH(most blue gem recipes) than having to rely on those low droprate recipes from instances. I've run a fair number of both Arca and SH and have only seen 1 Savagery(guildie won it) and no 35 agi enchants drop. And I ran a ton of SVs and have only seen one 12 stam to bracers enchants drop.

It's much easier to farm the 400g than those bobdamned recipes.

On the other hand, I had extremely good luck on farming the recipes that drop outside of instances. Less than an hour on any one of them.

Yeah I have run Crypts roughly 20 times now and have only seen the dextarity enchant drop once, and I lost it. In that same amount of time I could have easily made probably 1-2k g and bought a number of JC recipes.

I just tried for this for the first time. I tries grinding the spellbinders in western plaguelands for the Crusader enchant. After about 45 minutes i just gave up. It isn't worth the time.

Another random gripe with enchanting... whats up with people tipping the bare minimum? 5g fpr coming to you for mongoose is annoying to say the least.
