New DCUO Videos Focus on Area 51 and a Fan Q&A

Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that DC Universe Online will launch on January 11, 2011, but that doesn't mean that news surrounding the game has ground to a halt. In fact, SOE just release two new DCUO videos on the game's Facebook page!

The first video features Game Director Chris Cao giving players a glimpse at Area 51, the first Alert you'll take on in the game. As Cao puts it, "alerts are instant action quick grouping where you jump in with heroes or villains to face one of the many challenges that is attacking Earth at any given time." Area 51, the secret organization run and owned by Cadmus, is under attack by Brainiac as he attempts to get some Kryptonite. Players will need to protect the Cadmus scientists and defeat Brainiac's troops before taking on the big boss. You can watch the video after the jump!

The second video is episode 11 of the Inside the Studio series. As always, this video features Cao and Creative Director Jens Andersen as they answer questions from fans. This episode clocks in at more than 9 minutes long, so set aside some time and check it out!

DCUO's Latest Video: Meta Mentors

DC Universe Online has unleashed another sneak peek for fans. The newest video posted to Facebook is all about Meta mentors. Creative Director Jens Andersen walks players through the mentoring system for meta-human characters.

Meta-humans have natural abilities, maybe not born with them, but they come from a natural origin. As a Meta hero or villain, you will choose either Superman or Lex Luthor as your mentor. Each side will yield its own unique questline that will bring you closer to other legendary heroes such as The Flash and Power Girl.

Meta characters are guaranteed to have an awesome time whether they chose to walk the path of good or evil. Watch the full video on the official DCUO Facebook page.

DCUO has posted a new video to their official Facebook page showcasing the Iconic Battle Suits for Batman and The Joker.

Batman's Battle Suit is all about sleakness. With clean lines and plenty of space to house all of your gadgets, the suit will help players to stay in the shadows. The total opposite goes for The Joker's battle suit. One look and you can see the chaos and humor behind the suit. With a lit bomb in the middle of the chest, the punchline may end up being on the player.
