EVE Online

EVE Online has published the first ever economic newsletter for an MMO!
CCP Lead Economist Dr. Eyjólfur "DrEyjoG" Guðmundsson has published the very first quarterly economic newsletter. It is, in fact, the first report of its kind for any virtual world. Chocked full of facts, figures and charts, no self-respecting starship pilot should pass up this chance to learn more about the inner workings of the EVE economy, market trends and other essential data.
It is indeed filled with all that informative information that will now be argued on the official forums for hundreds of years.

EVE FanFest Coverage

So it was a crazy weekend from what I'm hearing! So here's a list of the coverage so far!

Official EVE thread.
Devlog of the event.

And, GamesIndustry has a writeup about EVE:Trinity, the new expansion coming out.

Trinity, the latest expansion for space-based MMO Eve Online - from Iceland's CCP Games - will be released during the first week of December.

The patch, which contains a massive graphical overhaul to the game – in which over 500 ships have been completely re-drawn from scratch – will be made available for free, as with CCP's other Eve expansions.

The news was released at this year's FanFest, which saw a record 1000 people attend the event in Reykjavik, and featured lectures, panel discussions, roundtables, tournaments and stage shows.

Hope everyone is recovering from FanFest quite nicely! See you in game!

EVE Revelations 2.3 Supports support for Mac OS X and Linux

In a rather large announcement that went unnoticed by many, EVE Online is bringing in multi-OS support in their upcoming patch!

This update, Revelations 2.3, contains formal support for Mac OS X and Linux. It also includes a few fixes for all platforms. Stay tuned for the release notes.

The next expansion, EVE Online: Revelations III (codename "Kali 3"), was renamed to EVE Online: Trinity because we had to postpone factional warfare due to lack of time and resources.

So Trinity is Revelations III, not including factional warfare, but with drone improvements, heat improvements, EVE Voice improvements, tons of bug fixes, a new graphics engine and new art content.

Please note that Trinity (the expansion) contains Trinity v2 (the graphics engine; v2 not II). This renaming was never going to cause any problems...

(It's not been decided what the expansion containing factional warfare will be called. The codename is currently "Kali 4", it might be called Revelations III, Revelations IV or something completely different.)
Hopefully we'll see this same sort of support industry wide!

Revelations II Patch Notes

REVELATIONS II is the second of three installments of EVE Online's second major game expansion. EVE's first expansion, EXODUS, revealed the escalating tensions between the Empires of EVE with its first installment, Cold War. In the second installment, Red Moon Rising, a galactic arms race forged the most powerful weapons ever constructed by man.

The first installment of Revelations saw empires make their final push towards the brink of war. Uncharted regions of space were opened for exploration and yielded vast wealth and resources needed to feed a hungry war machine. New innovations in weapons technology were introduced to wage the battle for supremacy in the universe of EVE.
