Faxion Online officially launched only three months ago to pit the forces of Heaven and Hell against each other, but UTV Ignition Games just made the sad announcement that they will be discontinuing the game's live services and shutting down the servers within the next 30 days. The closure will begin this week with the immediate discontinuation of store purchases, online registration and client downloads. Here's the farewell message from community team member Cooldown:

"We’re eternally grateful for all the support, feedback, and competition our players have provided through thick and thin. Faxion’s development was a Herculean effort that some said was impossible given the timeframe and resources we had, and we’re proud to have delivered a PvP-driven experience that people could enjoy. Alas, all good things must come to an end. ... I speak for the entire Faxion Team when I say: Thank you for all the support you’ve shown. Slay on, friends -- one last time!"

Some members of the Faxion team are saying goodbye in the announcement thread. "It was a pleasure. Sad to see it go," said Xanther. "Thank you to everyone who stuck by Faxion and recognized the potential which we believed it had. It was my privilege to work on the game and with such a great team," said UTVMagmonix.

UTV Ignition Games is celebrating the Fourth of July in Faxion Online by giving away limited edition sets of angelic and demonic wings from July 4-6. If you want to grab these wings, you're going to need to log in and find a GM in Purgatory City during one of the giveaway events. Here's the schedule:

• Monday, July 4: 12:50-1:50 p.m. CDT
• Tuesday, July 5: 12:50-1:50 p.m. and 4:50-5:50 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 6: 12:50-1:50 p.m.,  4:50-5:50 p.m. and 8:50-9:50 p.m.

Considering Faxion Online is all about the battle between Heaven and Hell, it's no surprise that the game focuses on PvP. Keeping with that theme, players will soon be able to declare war against other guilds, even within their own faction!

To get the war started, a guild must declare an Inquisition. The announcement will be broadcast across the server, so be ready to make the battle count. Wars can last from one day to two weeks, with a commensurate cost to the guild. Guilds have the option to negotiate a surrender with the exchange of items and gold, request unilateral absolution with the forfeit of tokens, or battle it out to the bloody end. A new Leaderboard will track each guild's record, and non-affiliated players may be enlisted temporarily.

Today marks the official launch of Faxion Online, a free-to-play MMO that lets players side with Heaven or Hell in the battle over the seven deadly sins. In celebration, UTV Ignition Games is hosting a variety contests:

• "Like" Faxion Online on Facebook for a chance to win an iPad 2!
• The Faith Leaderboard Contest kicks off today and runs through May 30. Be one of the top Faith earners throughout the launch weekend to earn "an epic shit ton of loot."
• So how did your character die, anyway? Tell the team as part of the Final Chapter Contest through June 1 for a chance to win Tokens and Faith.

As Creative Director Mike Madden said in his launch announcement letter, "Faxion isn't a console game, and we're not approaching it that way. While important, official launch is just another milestone." The team's currently working on a fully-developed Guild system, the addition of Holy Wars and continued stability improvements. All of that content and more should be added in the coming months.

In case you haven't heard, May 21 is Judgment Day. Why not celebrate the end of the world in an MMO that features the battle between Heaven and Hell? To celebrate the Rapture, UTV Ignition Games is hosting two in-game Armageddon events on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Central time.

The free-to-play game is currently in open beta, so you can sign in tomorrow to fight back waves of minions and perhaps take control of an avatar representing one of the seven deadly sins. Faxion Online officially launches on May 26.

UTV True Games just announced that Faxion Online will officially launch with new content on May 26. This free-to-play MMO has been in open beta since March, so you can actually play the game right now before Judgement Day arrives in a couple weeks.

Now we just need the Ten Commandments of PvE and we're set for life.
