Exclusive Look at Against the Void

Tomorrow marks the launch of the sixth expansion for the extremely successful Legends of Norrath. If you don't already know, LoN is a trading card game existing within the Sony Online Entertainment titles 'EverQuest' and 'EverQuest II'. The new expansion is called "Against the Void" which is a continuation of the Ethernauts story. Featuring new playable avatars and characters, new cards, gameplay and loot, this expansion is sure to be a favorite in LoN circles.

We were fortunate enough to have Joe Alread and Andrea Shubert of the Legends of Norrath team in Denver write us a summery of the cards that we have to show you today. Check out what they have to say after the jump and head on over to the Legends of Norrath website for more information about Against the Void.

Game Designer Previews Against the Void Expansion

UPDATE: As Allakhazam poster Svenalo noted, the release date for Against the Void is set for Feb. 12. Thanks Svenalo for pointing that out.

Against the Void, the sixth release for Legends of Norrath is coming out this month. Although no official release date has been announced, Legends of Norrath Game Designer Evan "Heimlich" Lorentz has been posting a series of informative articles to both inform and excite players.

The first article acts as a preview to Against the Void. "Against the Void continues the themes introduced in Ethernauts, following the story of those brave adventurers of ages past. The set also builds upon the gameplay of Ethernauts, further exploring the importance of faction, and adding another dimension to the Lookout keyword. Add to that a mountain of new material including 10 scenarios (with 20 reward cards to earn), two more races for player-created avatars, and plenty more surprising new cards for your decks, and you'll have lots to explore and enjoy."

The second article, which was published yesterday, focuses on two freshmen keywords: Attuned and Immobile. Attuned means, "this card's faction is the same as your avatar's," while Immobile means, "This unit can't be moved."

Against the Void Expansion Coming Out in February

SOE has announced that Against the Void, the sixth release for Legends of Norrath, is coming out in February. The expansion is the second part of the Ethernauts trilogy and will add more than 280 gameplay cards to the mix. For fans of in-game items, there will be 16 new loot cards each for EverQuest and EverQuest II, including new mounts, illusions and your very own traveling band.

There will also be a new keyword on some cards to add to your flexibility while playing. The key word "Attuned" will change the card's faction to match the player's avatar. Speaking of avatars, "Against the Void introduces new Fae and Arasai playable avatars and features units representing Knights, Gnomes, Orcs and Iksar."

While no release date has been set, you can expect to see this expansion next month. Check out the official site for more information.
