Neverwinter: The Trickster Rogue

After taking a look at the Guardian Fighter via a run through The CLoak Tower and the Devoted Cleric, the last class on ZAM's whistle stop tour of Neverwinter is the Trickster Rogue.

Fans of the classic Dungeons and Dragons concept of a nimble, elusive and deadly class can rest at ease as Cryptic has created a toolset for the Trickster Rogue that makes it a high damage dealing, lightning quick and ridiculously fun time to be had.

The first Encounter abilities that you acquire as you level up, combine to make for a powerful damage dealer at early levels with a lot of flair that will leave you giggling. Well, it left me giggling but Nightcrawler style "BAMF" moves will do that.

Neverwinter: Show Your Devotion

For anyone that watched the ZAM livestream of The Cloak Tower dungeon delve, it will come as no surprise that the latest class to be confirmed for Neverwinter is the Devoted Cleric.

From personal experience I can say that this class is extremely useful for groups as well as being flexible enough to be viable for solo play.

As part of the press beta event to showcase Neverwinter, I had the good fortune to go running through the first of the D&D based MMO's dungeons yesterday.

After meeting up at the Hall of Justice in the Protector's Enclave (which you can see in the screenshots included), we prepared for our five person adventure.

Playing a Guardian Fighter, I was boosted up to level 16 by one of the very accomodating Cryptic devs such as Zeke Sparks. Then, along with some other games journalists, including Bill Murphy and Garrett Fuller of MMORPG, we hacked, slashed and romped our way through a variety of enemies including some fun boss encounters.

Neverwinter: First Beta Weekend Announced

Along with the rather fetching cinematic, Perfect World has announced that the first beta weekend for free-to-play MMO Neverwinter will run from February 8 to 10.

Lucky beta testers will have the chance to explore the city of Neverwinter along with surrounding areas such as Protector's Enclave, Blacklake District, Tower District, Blackdagger Ruins and Neverdeath graveyard -- which, if its name is accurate, is rather full of empty graves, but I doubt it.

The content in these areas will keep adventurers busy all the way up to level 30.

Neverwinter CG Trailer

I'd argue there's never a bad time for a new MMORPG CG trailer. So suffice it to say that I'm ecstatic over the appearance of a brand new trailer for Neverwinter, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons title from Perfect World.

Neverwinter Founder's Packages Live

Remember a few days ago when I told you that Founder's packages for Neverwinter were coming with all the tasty goodies of Drizzt, backpacks, and special items? Well, that's happening now, and they're live.

So scrape up $200 if you want that white-haired good-guy fronting your MMORPG campaign in the coming months! Plus, there's also the Guardian's of Neverwinter pack and the Neverwinter starter pack to choose from if your wallet is not as overflowing.

Neverwinter Beta Detailed, Now Featuring Drizzt

Perfect World Entertainment has informed Kotaku of the upcoming Neverwinter Founder's program and beta weekends, and it's all your standard soon-released MMORPG affair - a $20 kit that gives you a pair of in-game backpacks with items, a $50 kit that gives you more exclusive items plus beta weekend access, and a $200 pack that gives you all of that plus a special exclusive class.

The class is the special Menzoberranzan Renegade, allowing you to play a dark elf with unique racial abilities and a panther companion. Fans of the Forgotten Realms might note this is conspicuously similar to the famed Drizzt Do'Urden, but no, that is merely your imagination. It is most definitely not Drizzt.

Let us hope there is not an influx of weath in Neverwinter players, or this might end up happening

The focus on interesting, active combat is certianly prevalent in most new MMOs to be coming down the pipe in the next year or so.

And it's about time too.

Neverwinter is a strong example as demonstrated in the new video released by Cryptic and Perfect World. The importance of left and right mouse clicks and the dynamic nature of the activated abilities seem to point towards an engaging bout of hack and slash for players when the game is released.

Neverwinter Control Wizard Trailer

Perfect World Entertainment has shown off a new class trailer - I always kind of like these things - for Neverwintertheir upcoming MMORPG and pseudo-sequel to the Neverwinter Nights series. The control wizard fills the niche it does in most mage nuker and controller situations, IE your standard Dungeons and Dragons staples Magic Missile and Ray of Frost, but also a Teleport ability, a huge area effect nuke/knockback, and an ice strike.
