Perpetuum Terra Incognita Expansion Coming May 4!

Avatar Creations has announced that the coming Perpetuum Terra Incognita update will actually be a full expansion! The release date has been set for May 4, and despite it being bumped to an expansion, the content will still be a free download. So why is it an expansion now? How about the fact that the world will be doubling in size?

That's right, The Syndicate Army's heroic offensive resulted in the conquest of 6 new islands. Players will also see Highways! These come as a result of the discovery of a kind of energized highway network, called ElectroMagnetic ACcelerator Strips (EMACS). The expansion also brings an Event Notification System, Explosion Damage, new Modules, Mineral and Mining changes, and more. For a full list of what to expect with Terra Incognita, head on over to the official Perpetuum site!

New Official Perpetuum Dev Blog

Avatar Creations has launched the new official Perpetuum Developer Blog. The newest entry is delving into the first patch of the year, which goes live today. The developers are working hard to provide a more realistic experience in Perpetuum. In the most recent blog entry they said:

There will be several changes coming in the future, all of which combined will make big fights a lot more tactical than they are today. We'll be introducing area of effect weapons, and robot explosion area of effect damage/debuffs, but tomorrow's patch only brings the very first of the systems designed to combat the problem: Interference.

Bringing Mechs to the Sandbox in Perpetuum

The New Year is always a rather emotional time for me. While a brand new year is when most people decide to make big changes in their lives, it also happens to be a time when most people realize that they're just too lazy, and thus continues the circle of life. As for me, I had two big gaming resolutions coming into this year: one, to give more meaningful coverage to the deserving MMOs, and two, to stop trolling so much in my online gaming (I'm sorry if you've ever met me in League of Legends). Of course, it should come as no surprise that a day later I was forced (forced, I tell you!) to break my second resolution during a session of late-night gaming angst, so this pretty much leaves me with one solid resolution. What is surprising, however, is just how easy it is to stick with my first resolution, and so I thought I'd share my thoughts on an MMO has been hogging a fair amount of my attention over the past month or so: Perpetuum.

Sci-Fi MMO Perpetuum to Launch Nov. 25

Do you like the thought of controlling a massive mech in a sci-fi MMO? Then you may want to check out Perpetuum. Avatar Creations just announced that after five years of development and 18 months of beta testing, the game will officially launch on Nov. 25.

Perpetuum takes place in an unsharded game world, much like EVE Online. As players explore the alien planet Nia, they can expect to participate in numerous battles and try out the complex crafting system and marketplace.

You can currently try out the game for free during the open beta, which ends on Nov. 18 at 18:00 CET. The client will be available as a free download once the game launches, but players will then need to pay a $9.95 per month subscription fee.
