The Elder Scrolls Online Hands-On Preview

There are now less than two months to go before the official release date for Zenimax Online's newest edition to the Elder Scrolls franchise, The Elder Scrolls Online. After five single-player only games, TESO is the series' first game to not only include multiplayer (without a third-party mod), but also the studio's first entry into the MMO market. Many of us here at ZAM, myself included, are big fans of the Elder Scrolls series, with hours upon hours put into Skyrim alone. The question that remains is whether Zenimax can carry over the appeal of the single-player games and put it into an MMO that appeals to both fans of the Elder Scrolls series and veteran MMO players?

Over the past few weeks I've had the chance to sit down with the game and see more than the stress test weekends would allow. While there is still much more to the game than I was able to experience, I've seen enough that I can give my early impressions of the game.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Dark Anchors

It's no secret that the world of The Elder Scrolls Online is being threatened by the infamous Daedric Prince, Molag Bal, who seeks to drag Tamriel into his own twisted realm. And while signs of the Daedric Prince's coming are sure to spark terror in all but the bravest souls, I think most of us can agree that when the Dark Anchors tear open across the sky and latch onto the earth below, it looks pretty darn amazing.

In order to shed some light on these dark anchors, Zenimax Online released a blog post discussing the creation process of these nightmare constructions. No matter what type of player you are, when the sky tears above you and these Dark Anchors threaten the very existence of the world you live in, you'll be faced with only two options--flea in terror or fight until your last breath.

The Elder Scrolls Online: A Brief PS4 Q&A

TESO Rating and Voice Cast Announced

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) just marked The Elder Scrolls Online “Mature 17+” for having some of these elements in the game: blood and gore, violence and sexual themes, strong language or use of drugs and alcohol. Zenimax Online said that they aren’t satisfied with the decision, but confirmed that they plan to honor it.

Elder Scrolls Online Group Content PvE Video

April 4th of this year is approaching fast and fans of Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind eagerly await the release date of The Elder Scrolls Online. All of the previous games were single-player only (barring a few mods to patch it in), so this will be the first time players will be able to explore the world of Tamriel alongside their friends and guildmates. That does leave a good question though: what exactly will you be able to do with your friends that stands out from your solo escapades in the previous games? In today's Dev Play Session video, TESO's developers walk us through a few of their world encounters built for multiple players.
